An interesting read, and one I'll pass along to my niece and goddaughters. It's a great counterpoint to the Disney-fication of children's role models.

In Princesses Behaving Badly, Linda Rodriguez McRobbie relates the stories of princesses who don't the typical happily-ever-after princess stereotype. Written with a lively tone, and based on the best sources available to the author, this is an approachable rendition of these stories with an eye on both modern and historical attitudes.

While this book may appeal to young feminists, not all of the stories are appropriate for all ages. And while the premise may also appeal to more, ahem, mature readers, the writing style may not please all.

This digital copy was added to my NetGalley shelf as a prize for completing Quirk Books' Quirksgiving challenge a few years ago. A review was not required, but not providing one negatively affects a reviewer's feedback ratio, so this belated feedback is based on having listened to portions of a library audiobook at 1.5 speed.
