This was the perfect introduction to what seems to be a swoon worthy team of traumatised and broody alpha army veterans - who band together to form a Security Company after being honorable discharged from the army.
Kill Without Mercy is the first book and is all about Rafe Vargos - he is the glue that holds the Ares Team together; the one who was actually behind all of them getting together to form ARES Security. But now, Rafe has to go back and take care of his grandfather's estate in a small town - a grandfather who had disowned his son, Rafe's father when he joined the army! What he didn't expect was finding a woman who would not only catch his eye, but also rouse his most base and protective instincts!
Annie, is a woman back to her roots - it's been 15 years since the serial killer - The Newton Slayer - Annie's father – was killed. She has tried moving on; but somehow her nightmares of the victims are coming back and she has no choice but to go back to the town she had thought she had left behind; the one she wanted to leave behind!
Rafe was a surprise to her - but while she was wary; there was something about him she couldn't resist. The chemistry between them was explosive; and almost inst - love, but I honestly did not mind; for the Annie didn't make it very easy for Rafe!
The mystery of Newton Slayer was brilliantly put forward and the plot was twisted enough to have my attention throughout! Can't wait to pick up the next book in the series immediately!

I first read Alexandra Ivy in the On the Hunt anthology she did with Dianne Duvall and really enjoyed her short story. When I started Kill Without Mercy, however, I found myself struggling to get into her writing as it was a bit slow and more surface level. After putting it down and coming back to it a couple of times since then, I've had the same struggle. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to finish this title, but would still give this author another try in a different series.

Fast paced, secrets at every turn, and a little bit of sexy is what this story has to offer. I think this is a fantastic start to a new series. If you loved fast paced thrillers, I suggest you put this on you one click list.
Loved it!
