I really enjoy these books - definitely in the Stieg Larsson mould.
Very clever plots which keep me reading.
An excellent series of books.

The creepiness of this book is what made it so great. That awful, paralysing feeling that someone is watching you - heightening tenfold when reading this book!

I haven't read the other books in the series - yet - but will do as I found the established characters really compelling.

This is my first from this author but it won't be the last . Really dark story that keeps you guessing until the end

Having not read the other books in this series, I thought I'd struggle with this book but it is written in such a way that you can easily pick up, it works as a stand alone book.
Thrilling, page turning and moreish!

I absolutely love Lars Keplers books and the Joona Linna series. This one is just as brilliant, the authors style or writing is brilliant with nice sized chapters.

Highly recommended book and series and a full 5 stars!!!

A video-clip is sent to the National Criminal Investigation Department. Someone has secretly filmed a woman through her window from the garden. The next day she is found dead after a frenzied knife-attack. The police receive a second film of another unknown woman. There is no way of identifying her before time runs out. As more victims are uncovered, the past is revisited to stop future murders.

I went into this not realising it was the 5th in a series, but that didn't matter as Kepler did well introducing his characters for Stalker. I did feel a bit lost at first because of the multiple characters but once I got into it I was fine and the story is mostly self-enclosed. There's some brief instances where the past is mentioned but I personally don't think this negatively impacts the reading experience.

I enjoyed that the case was truly difficult and I wasn't sat rolling my eyes at inept police officers who don't pick up on the clues and evidence. I was shocked and really excited when reading the plot twists. It really interested me as there's a psychological element which we get told about by the psychiatrist character.

One problem was that at times I felt it was dragging on a bit. I read this as an e-book so I didn't go into it thinking it was a large book, and it surprised me when I realised I was only halfway through it. Plus, it's not really an action book, a lot of the time we're in very slow paced situations, finding clues and witnesses rather than fighting and chasing (Although it does have some of this too). Not that I don't enjoy long books but I wasn't in the mood for it at this time.

I don't have much to actually say about this book because it wasn't a bad book, but it also wasn't a book I would normally read. This isn't a genre I'm particularly fond of, although I did enjoy reading this book. But, it isn't a book I'm going to be remembering next January because of it being amazing or mindblowing. It was a very  planned out and well written crime novel.

Positives

+ Plot twist near end kept me going

+ Case was truly difficult

Negatives

- Slightly long

I received Stalker* by Lars Kepler from the publisher via NetGalley. This is an unbiased and honest review.

Couldn't read on time due to a broken e reader. My sincere apologies to the author and publisher for this.

I thought the original premise of the book was fascinating and while it was a good read overall, I did feel that it dragged on a bit in the middle. Hadn't read any of the other books in the series so will add to my reading list...

Definitely a "keep you on your toes" kind of novel. I whipped through it at a fair pace, and enjoyed it so much that I've since gone back to earlier ones in the series.

Found this book very hard to get into, lots of different characters, and seeing how long the book is - have now given up, and wanting to read something else.

The fifth in the detective Joona Linna series, Stalker is an intriguing scandinavian thriller with compelling characters, a strong plot that will keep the reader guessing to the end. I enjoyed the book very much and will read more in the series.

Stalker is another in the series of novels featuring Joona Linna and as with previous novels this one is just as thrilling and atmospheric as the others.
Filmed video clip arrives at the National Crime Investigation Department showing a woman who has been secretly filmed through her window, very soon the same woman is found murdered having suffered a manic knife attack. As more film clips arrive it is a race against time to identify the victims and try to save them before it's too late.
This is a real edge of your seat thriller and although sometimes the writing is a little too detailed i still found myself entranced.

One of those bizarre Norwich detective stories, but this one really is a step far beyond reality. Couldn't get in to it at all.

Wow this was a brilliant story that I could not put down
I never saw who the killer was in spite of thinking I knew all way through
The author keeps the reader captivated at all times and hungry for more, a real page turner
I will definitely read the other books in the Joona Linna series

Be afraid, be very afraid. Just ensure your doors are triple locked and windows tightly closed and oh, if you have a basement well lock it and barricade it.
Although Stalker is the fifth in the Joona Linna series by the Swedish Authors, Lars Kepler, I read it as a stand alone novel. Though I do recommend reading all the series, I did not find in any way that it was detrimental to my enjoyment of the book. Enjoyed at being terrified??
The build up of the action was amazing as I shakily “turned” to the next page. I was sure I knew who was killing and disfiguring those poor women, I was wrong. There are many twists and turns, skilfully inserted by very talented authors.
So before you settle down with this highly recommended novel, have I mentioned to make sure all doors, windows etc are bolted tightly shut and whatever you do, keep those curtains closed!
This is an entirely unbiased review. Many thanks to NetGalley and the Authors: who kept me reading until the early hours and beyond.

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. Never before have I felt so connected to the characters have I felt genuine emotions for the misfortunes and horrors. With twists and turns through the read and lots of red herrings – a read that not only kept me on my toes but kept me engaged to the very end (As proved in the 48 hour readathon!). The last paragraph was a slight anti-climax however the thrill of the book more than made up for this!

Probably the best translated book I have ever read - that was some feat!
Two Swedish authors combine to give us a truly thrilling ride. The twists and turns felt like whiplash, usually I can predict a book long before it's completion but this book had me blind sighted and absolutely enthralled. I didn't realise this was part of a series until I finished, so I will definitely be going back to the beginning. This novel was just in a complete league of its own!

I wasn't aware of the ongoing series of these books before reading but it works well as a stand alone as well. Typical Scandinavian detective thriller, a little confusing at the beginning with many different threads but they soon came together

I'm not entirely sure how I missed the first four books in this series (I usually hate not starting at the beginning of a series). In this case it really wasn't an issue. If you like scandi crime fiction then Lars Kepler should be added to your must read list. Now to download book one......
