Magnificent, superb serial killer novel apparently the latest in a series but is a stand alone delight. Violent but beautifully written this lengthy tome grabs from the start and doesn't let go right to its climatic denouement. More than recommended 10 stars!

A high quality Swedish noir typically full of twists and turns to keep you on the edge of your seat.. Nothing is expected or predictable. Grisly in places. If you like this genre it will keep you amused.

This was the first book by Lars Kepler that I have read and I cannot praise it enough, Each little twist made it harder to decide what was going on and it was a complete surprise when the killer is finally named. I did find it hard to get into but then I have found that the Scandinavian genre books are a different style to what I normally read. Having said that I loved the book, the characters were so well defined and easy to picture, the story line followed through so well and it was a very dark thriller that kept me on the edge all the way through.. After readng this I have discovered that this is the fifth in the Joona Linna series but this is an excellent read alone story. I found it disturbing in places as it hit too near home for me. I often leave the back door open when I am in the lounge and I leave the curtains open when it is dark. Perhaps I will take a bit more care from now on.
Although this has been translated from the original it has been excellently done continuing the flow for the reader with no odd phrases inserted.
I loved the book and will now read other by this author.

Women are being killed in Stockholm. Before they were killed they were stalked and filmed and the images sent to the police. The police are struggling to find a connection between the victims but the way they have been posed after death links them to a murder committed nearly 10 years earlier for which someone has been incarcerated. Psychologist Erik Maria Bark assists the police with their case but finds that he himself has become a suspect. Even thought I haven't read any of the other books in this series I really enjoyed this one and will look for the rest of the series now.

Thanks to Netgalley, Harper Collins and the authors for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Well what can I say about "stalker" other than it being an impressive page turner, it was very clear to me that this is not a standalone novel it is part of a series which since I've only just discovered this author I haven't read any other books so I think to understand the characters more I think you would need to read them.
This is very dark Nordic crime and the author goes into great detail to describe to us what the killer is planning and I suppose what drives him but it made it ver long winded and a tad tiresome at times.
The book wasn't what I expected at all and to appreciate it you need to be a fan of Nordic crime I think which I don't think I am.

True to his previous work, it was well written, kept me gripped to the very end.
I liked the continuing characters from his previous book.
Don't worry if you haven't read the first book this is very much worth your time.
Can't wait for his next one.

What a book! Could not put it down, not much work done in my house over the last few days. An absolute toe curling good book. I actually felt a part of the book it was so descriptive

This is the fifth book in the series which I didn't realise. However it didn't matter or affect my enjoyment of the book. Its a good plot surrounding a serial killer who films and stalks people before killing them, very, very creepy! It was a fast page turner and I really enjoyed it, will definitely be picking up the others in the series!

This is one seriously intense, seriously creepy book. Fantastic characters. Utterly believable which is what makes it sensationally creepy.

Thank you to Net Galley, to the publishers and to the authors, as Lars Kepler is two people !

My first novel by this team, Lars Kepler, although fifth in the series..

Firstly the length of this book, makes me give the book was star less, yes it is too long at nearly 640 pages...

Secondly, lots of pages means lots of characters, lots of plots, sub plots.

A video is sent to the National Crime Investigation Department in Stockholm. It shows a normal woman in her own home, doing nothing very exciting. By the time the police identify her, she’s dead. More victims are found, and it becomes clear that the killer is not going to stop. Each video sent to the police means another butchered woman. With the chilling fact they cannot trace who the person is till it is too late..

Margot Silverman is tasked with catching the killer. Heavily pregnant, she’s determined to solve the case before going on leave. Erik Maria Bark is a hypnotist who thinks the crimes may be linked to a case he worked on years ago.

And everyone thought Joona Linna was dead!

As mentioned I have not read previous books in the series, and I found Stalker a little confusing at first. There are lots of characters and plot elements that call back to earlier novels, and it’s a lot to take in at once. So I do suggest that you read all previous four books.

Due the large size of the book, it lacks the pulse rating pace of many books I enjoy to read, but gains a good pace for the last 20% of the book.

Different plots, lots of geography on Sweden do interrupt the pace and also following so many characters also effects the pace.

Really a battle in my own head whether a three star or a four star(especially for the last part of the book), but when a book takes two weeks to read and is a struggle, then really this is a three star.

Good points, but maybe a few negative points.

My honest thoughts and review.

One question for you readers is this a Crime Thriller or a psychological thriller ?

I would like to thank HarperCollins Publishers LTD and Netgalley for giving me a copy of this book.

When I came to read this book I didn't realize that it was the fifth book in a series I just thought that it was a stand alone book!! when I had found this out I was a bit put off reading it as I thought that I wouldn't enjoy it as I had not read the first four. Anyway after doing some research I found out that it doesn't matter that I hadn't read the others. So I started to read this one.

Whilst reading this book I came across things that I did not understand, this was my own fault as i had not read the first four on the series. This did not stop me from reading book and i found it enjoyable and i found myself reading right to the end to see what happens to the characters

this book has the reader caught in the plot from the beginning even if you have not read the others that lead to this book.

Well done to Lars for givng us the reader a very good story to read,

Having not read any of Lars Keplers' books before I didn't know what to expect but I wasn't expecting something as dark as this. I also believe this is my first scandinoir and I couldn't put it down. It's dark, descriptive and deadly and I'm going back to the beginning and reading the rest of his books! Many thanks to the publisher for letting me read this and introducing me to a new breed of books.

There isn’t much that I love more than a gritty thriller. But there is one thing, and that’s a gritty Scandinavian thriller. It must run in the family because my Mum is a die-hard Wallander fan. I hadn’t heard of Lars Kepler before I read Stalker, but I’ll definitely be reading some of the earlier books in the Joona Linna series (Stalker is #5.)

Lars Kepler is actually the pseudonym of two Swedish writers, husband and wife, Alexandra Coelho Ahndoril and Alexander Ahndoril, so I’m also excited to check out more of their individual novels.

Stalker already peaked my interest due to the subject matter. I love a crime novel regardless of the topic but books about stalking particularly interest me, solely because I find the concept of stalking absolutely terrifying.

The book is long and whilst I’m always open to reading a longer novel, I did feel like the plot dragged a little around the earlier chapters. However the second half of the book was incredibly thrilling and I whizzed through the final parts.

An aspect I particularly loved were the strong female characters. Unlike many crime novels, the book featured not just one but a whole host of strong females with their own plots.

I truly loved this novel. I read so many thrillers that I often find they’re all very similar and not actually very scary but with Stalker this wasn’t the case at all. The storyline was very different from anything I’ve read for a long time and I actually had to start another book alongside it to read at bedtime, because I was too scared to read this at night.

Stalker is absolutely terrifying in all the right ways and a perfect accompaniment to any Scandi noir lover’s bookshelf.

This is a superb thriller, a genuine page-turner with a cast of well-drawn characters and a gripping plot. It epitomises Nordic Noir and, although the identity of the stalker of the title becomes apparent before the end, the pace stays high and the denouement doesn’t disappoint. This is the fifth in the Joona Linna series, but it works perfectly effectively as a standalone if you haven’t read the other titles. If you enjoy fairly dark thrillers I would strongly recommend it.

A well written thriller that has plenty of action. To be honest it was not completely my cup of tea as thrillers go but I would recommend it as a good read.

This book was terrific, proper page-turning stuff.
The story was intriguing and I found it difficult to put down at the end of the chapters eager to return to it the next day and pick up the plot again.
Gripping, captivating and flowed well. Lots of suspense and the writers created a creepy atmosphere. Stalker is the first book I've read by the authors and it won't be the last. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Thank you!

Well....good god I literally finished this and went on amazon and bought the other 4 before it lol...had no idea this author existed and now I can't get enough....what a book and a half it had me teetering on the edge of my bed, sofa and in general all the way through!

Great lead characters you can't help but love them, so basically someone is videoing women and stalking them and sending the videos to the cops before killing them! The cops have limited time to find each victim before the stalker kills them, safe to say it's a rollercoaster ride and I had no idea who the stalker was until it was far too late!!!

You gotta read this book and the others before and after! Won't say too much but be prepared to lose a lot of hours reading them all after this one haha!

Fantastic author and great book(s) off now to read some more!

This is the first book that I have read by this Author. I didn't feel that I'd missed out on key elements having not read the previous books. I really enjoyed the book and would definitely seek out others by this Author. A complex story line where everything makes sense at the end.

Stalker is the 5th book in the Joona Linna series, but works well as a standalone.
