My first for this author and i really enjoyed it. It was a sad beginning with mother and son(Argent) in prison. I loved the H/h meeting when he was there to kill her and comes alive for the first time in years. it was a fun read. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of the couple from the first book. I would like to read that now.

I absolutely loved these characters. Christopher possibly the most dangerous hero I've read in a HR novel, but fantastically so. A murderer/assassin with his own code of honour. However, i's only coupled with actress Minnie that we learn that he has a heart of gold underneath all that muck and it is directed to her and her son.
Beautifully written and at points shockingly painful, Byrne knows how to write a novel where the twists and turns keep coming and the story keeps moving along at a pace you wont want it to end.
I can't wait to read more of her novels- especially the first one in this series.

Argent has spent his life in the shadows. Born in Newgate and forced to fight for his life he has grown into a hardened killer. So when he is contracted to kill the most sought after actress in London, he thinks nothing of it.. That is until he lays eyes on Millie LeCour. Now he has decided that he cannot harm her in any way, so he will protect her and her son from those who would do her harm. All she has to do in return is give him one night.

Millie has spent the last 5 years hiding the secret of her son's parentage, Now she is in danger and the only one who can protect her was sent to kill her. But the more time she spends in Argent's presence the more she sees a man who is broken but is capable of being saved, if only she can get past the icy exterior.

In this second book of the new Kerrigan Byrne’s series Victorian Rebels, we meet an unlikely hero that was so broken down, I was sure he would never be redeemed. Boy, was I wrong!

With a heroine like Millie, I should have known this man had no chance but to fall for her.

From the prologue to the last page, this was a book I just couldn’t let go off. It is so well written and paced that there was no room for boredom. And the love scenes were so sensual, you may just need a cold shower! No joke!

I also loved catching up with Dorian and Farah, hero and heroine from the first book. But what brought me to tears (besides the Prologue) was Millie’s son, Jakub. The author even made this character complex and interesting. I fell in love with him from the moment he showed up.

At this point, I am so vested into this series that I’m gobbling it all up! My recommendation is GET IT! You’ll be glad you did :)
