I haven't read the first book in the series, A Cliché Christmas (which is about Willa's brother), but this book completely stood on it's own.

I loved both Willa and Patrick. Willa has been through several hard trials in her young life and I felt so badly for her. I loved how her family, especially her brother, were trying to help her socialize again. Patrick was a great romantic interest, but what I think I liked the most was that he definitely had some flaws...not terrible, deal breaking ones, but he definitely wasn't perfect.

The story was such an easy read and I really hope to read more by this author soon. Recommend to anyone that enjoys clean, contemporary romance.

As a parent, I could completely relate on many levels with Willa. She is a single mother and her young daughter is now cancer free, which causes her to be a hover-mother. Can you blame her? I hate watching my kids suffer and wish I could prevent any little hurt and heartache, but that's just not possible.

Enter Patrick. He's taking over the medical clinic for his father, who is on an extended vacation, and the sparks zing all over this small town. For all her resistance, Patrick just may prove to be too much for Willa, especially with her meddling (but well-meaning) brother, Weston, pushing her boundaries.

I love these characters! Deese does an incredible job of bringing them to life and making them feel like my best friends and neighbors. I enjoyed watching their story play out, especially as Willa learns to let go and live life.

Such a sweet and swoony read!

Content: talk of cancer; mild romance

A Season to Love by Nicole Deese showcased both emotions in such a poignant fashion I'm certain this story, its characters, and the incredible journey toward healing will stick with me for many seasons to come.

The author pens a beautiful story, filled with characters to care about and root for, as well as romance and meaningful relationships. Deese transports the reader and makes the reader want the best for the characters.

I've read everything published by Nicole Deese so far, including the first book in this series (A Cliche Christmas) and I can honestly tell you--I am never disappointed. Her books are fresh and inspiring and everything from the way the characters interact with each other to how their feelings are described and portrayed in the story comes across incredibly authentic. She has some serious talent and I will forever be a follower of her work!

I loved this particular book so much, I had to wait nearly a week to write the review--and it's not because I didn't know what to say. I simply just wanted to read it again. I love when I find a book that pulls me in, wraps me up, and has me never wanting to leave again--ever--because I've transplanted my soul to its setting and become friends with its characters.

A shout-out to Nicole Deese for providing good, clean, warm-and-fuzzy reads that actually have depth & purpose in the midst of a genre that can be so severely lacking in honest, moral character. In a world where life is full of "seasons we never plan for. Seasons that take us by surprise and do their best to break our spirits, our hope and our faith."... it was a blessing to read the story of a heroine that grew to "believe there are better seasons ahead than behind."

A shout-out to My Savior, for the truth in Ecclesiastes 3--and for opening my eyes to such truth in action via the telling of this story and this author's most capable hands. I will never look at a sunset the same way again and I praise you for that.

And finally, a shout-out to the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book. All the feels. I love the strength in Willa even though she doesn't always see it. The hardships she has endured were rough and it's not surprising she suffers from anxiety. She's trying so hard to be the best mom for her daughter who is ready to live life as a normal kid again, but her fears are debilitating. Willa's loving sibling relationship with her brother Weston becomes a bit volatile as he pushes Willa too often and too far out of her comfort zone. The way that Patrick helps her overcome her fears is so thoughtful, because he knows he can't do it for her, but he can encourage and support her to do it for herself. They have great banter as well as thought-provoking conversations, and the romantic tension builds as they grow more attracted to each other but have the looming deadline of Patrick's departure preventing them from taking the next step. The author skillfully employs the "showing" technique rather than telling, and I easily connected with the characters and felt their emotions as I read. I loved Willa's compassion and motherly instincts for Alex, the teenage half-sister of her boss with a dysfunctional childhood, who adds another dimension to the story and a couple of her scenes brought tears to my eyes. This was the first book I read by Nicole Deese and I quickly found her other available books and loved them as well! She's now a must-read author for me :)
