This was a hard read. The writing could be argued as dry and dull but at the same time, you suddenly start making connections you had previously missed.

This book makes one think about the inner construction of books -- the plot -- and so in some ways it is like seeing sausage made (interesting, useful to know, but less enjoyable than just eating the sausage). However, very valuable if you want to be a sausage-maker or a writer!
