A heart-pounding thriller that plunges readers into the depths of a mother's desperation, grief, and unyielding determination for justice. Faith McMann's life transforms into a nightmarish ordeal when she returns home to find her husband murdered and her children abducted. What ensues is a relentless pursuit of vengeance that turns Faith from a victim into a force to be reckoned with.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to review the advance copy of this book.

I received a free copy from NetGalley. There is nothing like a mom looking for her kids. What happens to the kids is really hard to read though. But books like this should come with a warning that they don't tie things up in the end and you need to read the next one.

This was a great start to a new series. The action and suspense is riveting.
Many thanks to Thomas & Mercer and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Read this some time ago but seems I forgot to leave feedback. Good story very well written but I feel frustrated with the cliffhanger at the end

Faith goes off to the store to collect some shopping and supplies she needs, she forgets something and returns home to get it.

She goes back in home to her shock and horror she finds her husband and children tied up. They are being asked over and over “where is it”

It then turns into a frenzy when her husband is killed right in front of her eyes and she’s left for dead. He kids are kidnapped.

It’s all fierce from then on with plenty of action .

I’m very very late in reading this and serves me right in being annoyed I didn’t get to it sooner. I so enjoyed it.

This is book 1.

With a huge cliffhanger!

*I won this book off of Netgalley for my honest opinion*

I'm going to say right off the bat and without giving away the ending, the ending confused me. You will know what I mean when you get there. It does leave off with a cliff hanger - maybe another book? However, the journey and the writing kept you in interested as a reader.

The writing kept the readers on their toes. The way the stories were interwoven together was done seemliness.

Again, I don't want to give too much away - but it is scary to think of this happening every day. It's horrible to think about. This book brings this topic to light and makes you think about it.

This is one of best novels I’ve read about human trafficking and kidnapping. The author has done her research and sprinkles in facts in bits so the story doesn’t become preachy.

The story is about Faith, a fourth grade teacher and mother, whose husband is murdered in front of her and her children taken. By a miracle, she survives having her throat slashed.

The point of view shifts among Faith searching for her children, a teenager held captive in the house where Faith’s daughter is locked up, and her son confined with young boys elsewhere.

Faith shifts from fourth grade teacher to hunter. Forced to attend anger management classes, she adopts the nickname Furious, and finds two allies in the class named Rage and Beast. These two are worldly and rough enough to give Faith the support and guidance that her parents and siblings can’t.

All these characters are well developed and credible. The book is well spaced and the writing good: “The girl had just been branded, and it was the first time Miranda had seen her cry. The tattoo man, whom they called Fin, had done a number on Jean. He said it took longer than usual and he’d had to go deeper because she was so young. That way he wouldn’t have to do it all over again in a few years. All the girls got a swirly letter H tattooed on their upper arms at some point after being brought to the house. With all the fancy twirls it was hard to tell if it was a letter at all. Miranda didn’t believe Fin’s story about having to be so rough on Jean. Neither had she liked the way he’d looked at the girl while he was working.”

For me, the biggest disappointment in this novel is that it is the first in a trilogy, and while Faith/Furious manages to rescue several children, hers are not among them. The search continues in the second and third novels.

The descriptions of what happens to the captive girls are graphic and horrific. From the research I’ve done on human trafficking, I believe the scenes are realistic. Depending on the source you use, human trafficking and identity theft flip between the fastest growing crime in the United States.

I love a good crime thriller, especially one that leans a bit to the dark side. Furious is all that and more. I know that you never get between a mother and her kids, Momma Bear comes to life.

To say that Faith McMann had a bad day is a massive understatement. Ragan starts this story off with a bang, and keeps the good times rolling. I was pulled into Faith McMann’s life and needed her to have her vengeance.

Ragan tackles some pretty heavy issues in Furious. I felt the frustration of a parent with law enforcement’s inability to get results; the underfunding and budget cuts for our police forces may not seem like a big problem, until you need their help. Reading Furious, I learned more about human trafficking than I ever wanted to know. It’s one of those things we all know happens, but we bury our heads in the sand; it only happens to other people. Well, Ragan shoved it in my face. These are issues that we need to address and fix.

I felt dragged through the wringer along with Faith McMann. Her character was average and normal, she could be anyone – your friend, neighbor, co-worker. This helps me to build a connection to the character, she is not some unfathomable, unrealistic person. The supporting cast was awesome, they complemented Faith and illuminated her many sides. When Furious, Rage and Beast began their rampage, I thought I was in a J.R. Ward book.

I have finished Furious, but Faith McMann’s story is not over. In the end, I enjoyed T.R. Ragan’s writing, but I don’t feel the urgency to jump into the next book in the series.

*4 Stars

Reagan takes a difficult topic and weaves a gripping tale around it. Well written with characters that drew me in from the beginning. My empathy kicked into hyperdrive and I dreaded reading more, even as I couldn't wait to read more. I love a cliff hanger, and she gives us a great one for an ending. I will read more in this series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for this free readers edition. In exchange I am providing an honest review.

After the slump I've been in with reading this book helped revive me! I'm so glad it was next on my list (which is constantly getting rearranged).
Faith McMann needed to grab a couple of things at the store so she dropped her kids off at home once she saw her husband was already home and headed back out. Except she had to turn around to grab the list. As she entered the house something was wrong. It turns out that is the last normal day Faith McMann and her family ever had. Within minutes Faith watched her husband die and her children abducted and almost died herself. Once recovered she begins to search for her children and for answers. Her tenacity leads her to a world she didn't realize existed - the world of human trafficking. With the help of family and new friends she starts knocking down walls in every effort to find her children. Oh, and Faith? Faith went missing the day her husband was murdered and her children abducted. You can just call her Furious.
Loved this story from Ragan, it's the first of any of her titles I've ever read. She tackles a subject that has become a hot topic of conversation in the past few years. A topic that must be talked about more. A topic that must be exposed and addressed. Ragan must have done a lot of research, including talking with rescued girls, in order to create the parts of the story that gives the reader glimpses into a possible traffic situation. Because this is book 1 in a trilogy the ending was done really well, it keeps the reader - at least this reader - hooked and ready for books 2 and 3.

Loved this book, the premise, the description, the characters and then FIRST OF A TRILOGY!?!?!?!?!?!? Ah, well I guess it is to be expected. Faith M. needs a lot of faith just to get through the initial discovery but follows it up with good decisions that seem human and not super hero. Enjoy the read.

Trigger warning: This book contains sexual harassment and human trafficking.
Source: I would like to thank the Net Galley and to the publisher for providing the copy. This will not influence my reviews.
That kind of feeling when you’re reading a Mystery/Crime story and it actually terrifies you. This kind of terrifying moment will hold your attention to read it. Let me tell you straight, if you don’t like this concept don’t be hesitant to read my reviews because FURIOUS is a disturbing book, you can’t handle how gruesome it was. However, I still read it because it’s a beautiful story and a great eye opener for us.
Faith McMann has a perfect family. She is an elementary school teacher, have 2 children, and a loving husband who has an own business. Until one day unexpected occurred hit on on her family – her husband died and took her children. She will find answers who did all of this to her family.
It is my first time to read books by T.R Ragan and even reading a story about this human trafficking. In young adult section, I heard Ellen Hopkins have a book related to this but I haven’t start reading it out. I’m afraid that Human Trafficking is like a virus in our society. I hope that this will stop but every time that I asked myself HOW can we supposed to stop this? My heart is broken reading through this book, even businessman or anyone respectable person is one of the clients and owners of this kind of business. *cringe. I’m not judging okay.
The characters are all great, I don’t have any wrongful judgements about them because they are all different, they all have different stories that linked to each other. It is intense every page and will hold your breath. I didn’t realize until now that this book will make me question about everything and to be attached to it.
You may be probably wonder why did I gave it a 4 star and loved it. Unfortunately, I don’t like the way the author writes this book. She doesn’t include a timeline in the story and it is confusing to read. It was told in a 3rd point of view and sometimes 3rd point of view could be a pain in the ass when there has no specific date or year it was happened.

I thought this was a great read but I am a bit biased. I love T. R. Ragan. One can never go wrong with a T.R. Ragan book.
