How many women find themselves too busy to open the Bible and read? With this little devotional women will be able to get themselves back into the word without giving up a lot of time. Very well written.

I downloaded Too Blessed to be Stressed: 3-Minute Devotions for Women by Debora Coty at least 6 months ago from NetGalley. I had so much going on between work, my blog, and my side hustle business that I wanted a quick way to reconnect throughout the day and help keep me focused. I do a longer devotion every morning so I intended to use this book as more of a check-in than a full devotion. In the end, it was ok.

I don’t have anything specifically negative about it but I wanted something more. Even though it is billed as 3-minute devotions, I still wanted substance. It’s always a scripture, a devotional, and a suggested prayer and while that’s fabulous these are kind of simple and cutesy. These 3-minute devotions in Too Blessed to be Stressed are just not quite deep enough for what I was wanting from it. It’s good but it’s not life-changing and it didn’t awaken some intense new revelation about myself and my relationship with God.

Coty refers to the Lord as “Papa God” which does evoke a close personal relationship I found it uncomfortably informal for God. God is a figure to both love and fear so “Papa God” just wasn’t a term I felt comfortable with while reading and praising.

I guess in the end I like the idea of this book more than the actual book. It wasn’t bad but it was too simple and too informal for my preferences. If you’re looking for something simple, quick, and light-hearted it may be just your cup of tea.
