Despite the cover looking like a bad photoshop job (which I think it is) the story does do justice. The plot and characters manage to convey themselves although I do not find anything more to make it unique. It is a simple story of missed chances over a decade which finally a managed to wrap itself up in a pretty bow. A perfect book to spend your lazy days reading something that won’t make you end up in a heart wrench XD

I love a good friends into lovers book. Most romance fans do, I feel like. Which must be why I requested this from NetGalley so long ago to review, since it fit into a romance category I’m fond of, and enjoy.

This book is a huge cluster. I don’t know how to put it nicer, or differently. I had a long, drawn out review, but the main point is to say that the characters don’t even seem to know each other, themselves, or their motivations. For a romance novel, there is decidedly little of it, and, when it finally did happen, it seemed so out of place with the rest of the book that I got embarrassed reading it. The sex scene was really vulgar, but in a way that felt like watching a sex scene in a children’s movie- OUT OF PLACE.

As a reader, I felt like I never once understood the two main characters, or why they were kept apart for so long, other than the fact that the writer wanted them to. There was no gut angst going on, and I was never that excited about them.

I almost bailed at about 65% of the book (that was before the sex scene!), and I probably should have, because I just continued to be more and more disappointed.

I have to give this book a 1 star review. I rarely use a 1 star for a book I read completely, but I just couldn’t bring myself to hit the 2nd star for this review. It’s so hard for me to be this hard on a book, especially since the author has a pretty dedicated following and body of work at this point, but it just did not work for me. There are so many better novels out there about the same thing this one is, that do it a million times better than this novel did.
