Josefa Gomez has an affinity for beauty - only the young seamstress seems to be mistaking the beauty as a whole with just the beauty of things. Sure, the nice dresses and houses are pretty - so when a dashing and rich Oswald starts to woo her, she is smitten. But the community in Persimmon Hollow is not so sure about the prince charming...
And there is Ben, too. Just a regular guy, but he gets Josefa as nobody else. But Ben has his dreams and has nothing to offer to any possible wife, and he knows it, so he is stays silent in the romance front.
The loving community of Persimmon Hollow, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, is to see a lot these months. From the presidential visit and the electrifying of the streets to the new church...to the romance or two? Anyway, they will be neither suprised nor defeated - they know how to stick together and throw in a prayer.

Much better than the first installment in the series! I had fun here, and had enjoyed the loving community. Sure, the white-and-blackness stays, and the unelievably bad villain/s too, but the main heroine is more colourful, fortunately. Josefa rebels, dreams and fights temptation as any young girl does, and she is relatable in her struggles.
And the community is here for her, if their embrace is sometimes too tight, but ever loving.

I also appreciated the religious and moral insights.

The way to go, Ms Bauer!
