A great book premise that is written fairly well (even with a few editorial misses), it has some 'chosen one' trope notes but it feels different to the usual stories you get in the theme. As a fantasy reader I overall enjoyed this story and think that many of the teen readers in my library would as well. While the book is not available for me to physically purchase for our library, I know some students who do read primarily in eBook format and will add it to the list of suggestions I pass on to our Year 10+ students..

I enjoyed this book, to an extent. The writing was great but at some points Maci, the main character was a bit much. However, the overall story was great, the plot amazing. I just think the characters could have been dwcwloped a bit more.

An interesting storyline with the opportunity to really grow this world and characters in the series. I enjoyed the characters and how the author took the storyline forward.
