The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You by Lily Anderson

The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You is delightful and so, so fun! I love retellings of classics (because let's be honest, classics are hard to get through) and I'm always looking for sun books to direct teens to who are having to read the more boring versions (aka the originals) at school. This one is perfect! And I love getting my nerd on and reading books about nerds. I loved all the nerdy/fandom references and the fun banter between characters. I loved Ben and Trixie, and the time the spend at the comic book store. I've literally never been to one, but now I want to. The author's writing does not let go of you, and I read this in a day. I came away with a huge smile on my face, and cannot wait to see what my teens think!

Unfortunately this book has gone in my DNF pile. It just wasn't engaging me like it would have years ago when I first requested it. My reading tastes have changed a lot over the years as I've gotten older and unfortunately some of the books requested years ago have been affected by my reading tastes and the fact that a lot of books for younger audiences haven't been grasping my attention as of late. I thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I am absolutely terrible about leaving reviews - my intentions are pure but then I get distracted and think that I have time to go back and that I'll remember a book and then life will get in the way. So while I don't remember a ton about this book I do remember finding it utterly delightful. I gave it 5 stars on goodreads and put it on my favorites shelf. I bullied friends into reading it and they enjoyed it as well. It was fun and filled with pop culture and while I may not remember the specifics of the story all these years later I still remember that it brought me joy in the reading of it.

This was a cute read--I like the characters and the concept. A quick light read that is relationship-centric, I can already think of a number of my students who would appreciate the book as a summer reading option.

This book was such a cute, yet powerful romance that I felt was done well, especially since it was so character driven. The character development in this book was fantastic!

This book is nerd heaven - so many pop culture references and hilarious banter. I liked that it was part mystery too. Plus my favorite type of romance - hate turned to love. Great pacing and even better writing.
