Orphan. Runaway. Thief. Since the moment I was ripped from my mother's womb, I've been an outcast amongst my own kind. The Sidhe might possess magical Gifts, unbelievable wealth and unfathomable power but I don't want a thing to do with them. I ran away from their lands in the Highlands of Scotland when I was eleven years old and I've never looked back. I don't need a Clan. I've got my own family of highly skilled thieves who mean more to me than any Sidhe ever could. Unfortunately for me, the playboy heir to the Moncrieffe Clan has something I desperately need. To get it back, I'm going to have to plunge myself back into that world, no matter what the consequences may be. I suppose it's just as well I have sense of humour. I think I'm going to need it.

Sometimes when I read a book by self-published / independent authors, I know what I am in for - a few spelling / grammar mistakes here and there (most of which are forgivable); sometimes the plot gets confusing as the author tries to tie all the pieces together; sometimes the writing just isn't quite as good as it should be.

This book walked the tightrope of all three of those things.

I have to say from the start that I didn't like Integrity. Didn't like her, didn't like her name, didn't like pretty much any word that came from her mouth - yet, her actions far outwighed the negatives of her personality. She was tough, brave...but also an "average" woman. No superhero skills for this girl!

The story itself started really strongly, capturing my attention from the start...but then it meandered along for about 100 pages, waiting for the real action to begin in the second half of the book. Which was great. But I shouldn't have to wait 150 pages for the story to really kick on.

The thing with the spelling/grammar? That was the worst for me. Everytime it happens, it just pulls me from the story while I try and work out what the word was supposed to be...or what the author actually meant to say. It is frustrating and really did detract from the reading this book which, had this not been an issue, would have rated another star higher...
