Going through my previous Netgalley titles and sadly this one got archived before I was able to read it! Giving this a 5 stars so it does not reflect negatively on the novel nor the author itself.

The book did not really work for me. I DNF'ed it. I wasn’t able to connect with any of the many characters in the book and I found myself putting down the book a lot because it was never really catching my attention.

Will no longer be reading or reviewing this book due to lack of interest in the title, and the fact that the title has been archived.

"Remember that the devil is the one who tells you to play a tune that’s not your own, and you can drive him right on out into the cold by playing what’s in your soul."

What made me request for an egalley of the book is the fact that the title itself piqued my burning interest. I don't know anything about its inspiration classic tale, a traditional folk one. This one was told while our protagonist is in a road trip, as you might notice, I am not a huge fan of such but I did like this particular book. Especially that little touch of magical realism. Given that the writing style is something exquisite, I cannot quite connect myself with the characters, and it took me a while to fully be immersed by the story.

The ending happened so fast that I did not have the time to process every single confusing thing that has happened. Overall, this haunting but beautiful book is refreshing.

I unfortunately was not able to read this book before the archive date. Someday I hope to read and review it for my blog. I will give a 5 star review on here so that I don't mess with it's rating.

It's not the destination but the journey. Beautiful book ABOUT a literal and figurative journey, I just do wish that the destination was half as compelling/not so rushed.

Still a beautiful book that I recommend to quite a few of my students.

This was an interesting travel story about a sister whose willing to sacrifice everything in order to find her sister. The ending was a little rushed, but I found it overall to be interesting enough.

An interesting novel that focuses on music! I liked it, but nothing really stood out to me.

I was really intrigued by this book, because I love anything to do with music, and this was a concept I'd never heard of before. However, I didn't end up enjoying it as much as I thought I would. For me, it wasn't panned out well enough, and I felt that too many secondary characters were introduced throughout the story and were never properly fleshed out or made real. I did enjoy the family element to the story, and it was never bad, but I think I just wanted it to be better.
