Well I’m writing this review having been crying for the past 10 mins.
A heartbreakingly emotive story of the trials and tribulations of love, and the paths we take to get there. A duel perspective narrative, with multi timelines make this novel a twisty thought provoking read. Again, why have I not read this for so many years?! A complete gem that needs more recognition.

A brand new author to me - I do like finding a new author. An enjoyable read and would be interested in reading more by this author.

Baptiste Molino's self-chosen job is to lead others into contentment and happiness - yet somehow he can not choose to do that for himself (neither he know he should love himself enough to try). Yet Amandine Rousseau is exactly the woman to make him to try for happiness. But is love that simple?

This is a romantic love story and more. Love is both very simple and a difficult decision for every day.

And my review is also two-faced - the authoress tries for both the magical and the raw - and sometimes it is working and sometimes not. The raw part works more for me, I get more authentic feelings of it. The fairytale part somehow needs to go deeper - like why Baptiste is not able to love himself enough? The birth story somehow does not offer the plausible explanation for me. Sure, I know very good people who can not love themselves - but there is some hidden reason for that.

But the overall message for choosing love and choosing it everyday is very needed in this world of so many souls who needs healing - you are too precious to not to try to heal!

It’s such a shame because I was so ready to love this but I couldn’t get into it. I might go back to it later but for now it’s a DNF for me.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book. Unfortunately, it wasn't for me, but I'm sure others will love it.

Too confusing for me, and I couldn't get into the story at all. I see that other reviewers have noted the same, and say it gradually becomes clearer, but I need a story to hook me in from the beginning, and sadly this didn't.

Review of an advance digital copy from the publisher.

A heartbreaking love story, a lyrical feast for the reader concerning style. Hardships and discrepancies in dealing with dementia and love at the same time. If only the beginning was less confusing.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book. From the beginning I engaged with the characters and loved the way the story flowed. I liked the way it kept you guessing and the interplay between Baptiste, Sophie and Amandine. I did find myself wanting to give Baptiste a push at times though! The writing is quite lyrical and I really did enjoy reading this story. I also particularly enjoyed the French setting and the fact that Baptiste lived on the river.
