After reading a few chapters, I decided this book held no interest for me at this time nor was it a good fit for my blog. I elected not to finish the book now, but it may well be a case of "the right book at the wrong time" syndrome and I might be willing to try it again in the future. Thank you to 47North and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to sample this title.

This is the second of a trilogy and a fantasy read.

Following Owen's adventures it is a book of pure escapism. I always marvel at fantasy writers and the way they weave their tales and this one is worth a read.

With magic, adventure and a poisoner this was an entertaining novel and one I will recommend

After finishing book 1, it was impossible for me to not start this one immediately and then finish it as quickly as possible. The book takes place about a decade after the end of book one. Owen is a man now, and playing the game of palace politics very well. This second book explores more about the world of Ceredigion and its neighbors, and the history of it all. I really enjoyed the second book although my heart is broken!

Even though I didn't read the 1st book, once again, Wheeler didn't disappoint. Few have his gifts with making readers feel as if they are almost inside the story he weaves. He has this gift in spades.
