This was an enjoyable sci-fi/New Adult mashup. I read it awhile back and hadn't realized I missed out on writing my review. But I do remember that after a slow beginning, I got sucked right into the story.. The romantic elements were fantastic in my opinion, much stronger than the mystery/thriller aspects. I can't wait to read book 2.

I really think the less you know about this story the better you'll appreciate it, so I'm going to try revealing anything about what actually happens in it. I actually read this book before it was released but, for some reason I don't know, I seem to have forgotten to post my review for it. I'm about to rectify that now and the fact that I can still remember so clearly what happened in it is definitely something in its favour - though I have re-read it to check my memory.

It is a somewhat unique mix of science fiction, mystery and romance though I initially thought it was going to be more like a paranormal (something like a scifi version of Twilight ). It starts slowly but definitely speeds up and it is a fun, enjoyable read. I particularly liked how the author slowly reveals secrets and aspects to the characters, developing the image of them and their actions as the story progresses. It is the first book in a series, so not everything is resolved at the end of this book but it definitely left me intrigued to know what will happen in future stories in this series.

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it (and re-read it)!
