As Rich as a Rogue — Jade Lee
Rating: 4/5
Quick take: A sparkling class-clash romance where charm meets grit and both learn some manners.
Two-sentence summary: A self-made man and a blue-blooded heroine collide over a deal neither wants to lose—until they realize the best win is each other. Money can open doors, but character earns the key.
What I loved:
Upstart-meets-aristocracy tension that goes beyond ballroom snubs
A heroine who’s practical, clever, and allergic to snobbery (even her own)
A hero who actually listens—and changes—without losing his edge
Business stakes that feel concrete: investments, reputations, livelihoods
Flirty set pieces that double as negotiations (great chemistry, great subtext)
A warm, gently funny tone that never undercuts the emotion
Wish list: the central antagonistic force stays broad; a sharper foe would have raised the temperature.
Heads-up: Standalone; mild–moderate steam.
For readers who like: Lisa Kleypas’s Wallflowers/HR with commerce, Julia Quinn banter.
Full review:
This is a very satisfying “where do we belong?” romance. Jade Lee makes room for both perspectives: the heroine’s knowledge of the rules that run her world, and the hero’s hard-won insight into how to bend them without breaking. Their banter is delightful, but the best bits are the conversations that change things—apologies that cost something, compromises that prove priority. The external stakes stay focused on money and standing, which keeps the conflict relatable. I wanted one antagonist with sharper teeth, but the emotional arc is steady, and the final choice feels earned rather than inevitable. A charmer.

Lush, steamy, romantic and fun. I love Jade Lee's writing and As Rich as a Rogue portrayed an expertly social world undercut with scandal, replete with passion and evoked with a steady pen. I look forward to reading more by this author.

I loved Mari and Peter's story!!
6 years ago, Peter named Mari the Wayward Welsh. Having worked all those years to overcome this, she is dismayed to see he is back in town. Peter has never forgotten about Mari and is determined to have her as his wife. He didn't count on her hatred of him. Will he be able to convince her that she is his perfect match?
Loved the latest addition to the Rakes and Rogues series and can't wait to see what Lee has for us next!
