It is a real page turner, has a number of twists along the way and sums up thriller perfectly.
Although this is the third novel with Marnie Rome, it could be read as a stand alone. A great read, I highly recommend it.

I've been meaning to catch up on this series for so long that when the 5th book came out i decided that was the perfect time.

I always love these books they hook you in from the first page and you won't want to put it down until it's explosive conclusion. Marine is such a fantastic character and paired with Noah these two make an amazing duo, it's a quick read that leaves you on the edge of your seat while giving you chills. Unputdownable.

Still playing catch up on this series and on to book 3. Another corker of a read.
Dragged into the pages from the word go and not let go of, until the very end. If you are looking for a read that keeps you turning the pages then this is for you.

I'm a big believer though in that series should be read from the beginning, and although you could get away with reading this on it's own, I really think it would be better having read the previous books. That is just my personal opinion, and it's your choice how you read them. Just do yourself a big favour and actually read them.

Tastes like fear (marnie rome book 3) by sarah hilary.
Marnie rome is back.
A girl who caused a fatal car crash has disappeared. It is up to marnie to find her. Mr harm gives this girl shelter. Will marnie find her? What will mr harm do to marnie if she finds the girl?
An absolutely fantastic read. Loved the story and the characters. Marnie was my favorite character. 5*. Highly recommended.

A mystery girl wanders into the road causing a car crash and what follows is unsettling for many in this police procedural.
A number of issues are explored – why would girls write on their bodies? How paranoid can you get from being locked up? Does being locked up causes fear and thus aggression? And does the Forgiveness Project really work?
We are left wondering about the young girls in this story such as Christie – does she have Stockholm Syndrome? Who exactly is Aimee? And can a 13 year old girl really behave like Loz?
I thought there were some some nice twists but also some predictability. I did like the alternating voices style as reading the ‘lost girls’ stories in their own voices helped understand them more and why they might be in the situation they were. I also liked finding out a little – but not too much – of the police characters and their backgrounds.
I am giving it 4 as I did guess who Aimee was just over half way through the book and thus some of the storyline was then obvious.

Sarah Hilary’s London is full of shadows, darkness, underground places where people can vanish; places full of people, estates, tower blocks, all with blind spots and corners around which people disappear. A young girl running away from something, or someone, causes a car crash. Another girl is missing. Around a table, three well behaved young girls eat dinner served by a slightly older girl, presided over by a man. His name is Harm. On an estate an elderly woman watches warily from her window, noting names and times of the kids outside running riot. What links these people?

This is the third DI Marnie Rome book and if you are a fan of the others in the series you won’t be disappointed. Hilary’s customary intelligence and storytelling verve are in full force. It’s amazing how chilling words on a page can be. There’s a smashing twist that I genuinely didn’t see coming, oh, and tantalising snippets woven in about Stephen Keele, the killer of Rome’s parents, whose story we MUST learn one day.

I can’t say more for fear of spoilers, so I’ll leave you with this:

“The kitchen reeked of wax. Fourteen candles burning but they didn’t make it brighter, just dragged in more of the darkness. Greedily, the way his pain pulled at her, at everything.”

Fascinating and powerful thrill-ride of a book.. Drew me in from page one to the last one. Really connected with the characters good, bad and sometimes questionable.
