Eh.
Finally decided to pick up Aurora Sky after having it sit on my kindle for quite a while. I was not particularly impressed. The beginning starts out promising. Aurora has the ability to help stop Vampires. Okay cool. Shipped off to Alaska. Mysterious-I'm rolling with it...AND THEN YOU FIND OUT AURORA IS THE WHINIEST CHARACTER EVER. Okay, yes her life has been turned upside down. I get it, she has a right to complain. Let's be honest here though folks, we all know we'd potentially be as equally as whiny at being up-heaved from everything we know, but NO ONE wants to see that play out in a book. I like my paranormal characters a little down in the dumps at the situations they're thrown into, but then they suck it up, take it in stride, and KICK ASS.
Aurora just doesn't want to. She series complains so much. Also Fane is just not described as a swoon-worthy male by any means. Whether it was his looks or personality, couldn't get into him.
Let's not forget the immature dialogue
“Yeah, I find it interesting that there’s a boy in the girls’ locker room. So you had that sex operation, did you?”
...really? That's the best you could come up with????
Okay, I'll give the author this- some of the one liners were great. Probably the saving grace of this book.
I think I put too much hope onto the maturity of this book because Aurora is 18. I went in thinking it would bend the lines of A/NA, however, it is VERY MUCH high school drama all the way. That was my bad, so it gets 2 stars instead of 1.
OKAY BUT FORCED LOVE TRIANGLES ARE THE WORST. NO NEED.
But, I do have a need to say I won't be continuing this series, probably.
Overall, not the best Paranromal YA has to offer, but possibly a decent read for those going in knowing it's a book written from a high schooler's mind and perspective.
One last thing...why does her face on the cover look so disconcerted??? She literally looks like she's about to vomit.
