I received a free copy of this novel from the author and publisher via Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Laura is an Australian marine biologist who's working at a research station in Antarctica. She's tasked with providing a conditions report on an abandoned whaling station and notices some strange goings on and things that don't make sense. The people she's working alongside also seem to be hiding something.

To be honest, this novel is a bit far-fetched, but if you can suspend disbelief for long enough, it's an entertaining story. Don't put too much thought into why Laura is allowed to be involved in the events. I would imagine once she'd reported her suspicions the police would take over and she'd not be involved any further, but never let realities get in the way of a good story!

Another bugbear of mine was that for a woman apparently in her late 30s and intelligent enough to doing what she does, Laura's reactions to events and situations are rather childish.

Aside from that, however, I enjoyed reading this novel.

I thought it was an excellent book. Took a little while to get into it, but then I was hooked. Gave me nightmares, so needed to quickly get it finished and find out what was happening. I really enjoyed the Antartica aspect. Thank you!
