An interesting story, but some parts were a little obvious and I felt irritated at the obvious mentioning of certain products - all meant to make the main character a great connoisseur, and rich, but actually slightly annoying. It was a shame they couldn't have been woven into the story a little more cleverly

A Hungarian adventure. What could go sour in the region producing the sweetest wine?

A cozy mystery takes an international turn as Ben Cooker and his wife travel to Hungary to visit the famous Tokaj region. On the home front, Ben' s coworker Alexandrine is attacked and beaten.

I love all things Hungary and Tokaji wine is one of my favourites. So I was glad to visit my favourite regions in written mode, too! And the authors obviously did so, too, as I can recognize the feeling of the places (some mistakes are to be expected).

Let me be an educator here - it is not true than only Hungary can produce the Tokaji wine - Slovakia can do that, too, as the wine-growing region of Tokaj is located in both Hungary and Slovakia. Therefore, wine producers from both the Hungarian Tokaj region and the Slovak Tokaj region may use the Tokaj brand name.
Also - the Hungarians are not a Slavic nation! Hungarian (Magyar) is a member of the Uralic language family.

This is a cozy mystery - quite catching, yet a bit naive.
But all the wine and food connotations are enough to make me both feeling hungry and having a traveler's fever!

A just "okay" entry in the series; for some reason it felt a bit stiffer and the translation more herky-jerky than previous volumes. Although, that could be because the action is split between more locations than I'd read in the series before and the transitions between those settings wasn't the best. I wouldn't introduce the series to a new reader with this one but completists may enjoy it.
