I always enjoy a book by this author. We get good rounded characters, lots of passion and a mix of emotions and some stress thrown into the mix.

River is a single mum, left behind when the man she loves with all her heart walked out on her after being together for 4 years and after getting back from the military. However her brother has finally managed to track him down and let him know that he has a daughter.

Vaughn has always thought badly of himself and having very little support growing up he only had himself and choosing how others saw him. He has only ever really loved River and has never forgotten her, however now he is back home and he wants to see his daughter.

One look at River and all the feelings crash back on him, however he will do whatever it takes to be a part of her and his daughters life. The chemistry is still very much there, but both of them are stronger than before and this time, River fights back for what she wants and will not accept Vaugh pulling back.

Both characters have some good support behind them, however when the past comes back and tries to tare them apart, they both fight to stay together to get their happy ending.

I love Tessa Bailey books. That being said this one was just good to me. Normally I am blown away by her books but this one I couldn't connect with.

It was so good to see River get her HEA. She had so much heartbreak and struggle that I really rooted for her happy ever after. There was a whole lot of intense dirty talk that was a bit much for me, but was glad to see the emotional connection between River and Vaughn was stronger than the previous book.

Thrown Down by Tessa Bailey is the second book in the Made in Jersey series, but the first one I read and did not feel lost. Here we have a second chance romance that was full of the feels and steamy. River and Vaughn were both heartbroken when he walked away from her, but he had his reasons. But when he learns what he left behind, he comes back determined to win them back. I absolutely loved Vaughn. He was strong, determined and protective. River wanted to protect her heart, could she trust him again? Their story was sweet and charming.

Happy reading!

Vaughn and River were high school sweethearts. They were the opposite in many ways - she was the class president and he was the tough kid always getting into trouble. But their love for one another always brought them together. Until one night Vaughn left town and never came back.

Fast forward to four years later and River is a single mom, raising her daughter alone. It isn't until Vaughn catches wind of the fact that he's a dad, does he decide to come back to Hook and seek out River.

I enjoyed the dynamic between River and Vaughn. These two have such a history and shared passion for one another, but they have so much distance between them. I loved how much Vaughn cared for and truly cherished River. And although River is upset with Vaughn, the love she has for him never wavered.

I've read this series out of order having read Worked Up prior to reading Thrown Down, but I still enjoyed the cast of characters. I love that Thrown Down discusses real issues between couples. You have this single mom, working two jobs to try to keep her family afloat. And even though Vaughn enters the picture, he still wants so badly to bring something to the table for his daughter as well as the love of his life. I enjoyed Thrown Down and look forward to reading the rest of the books in Made in Jersey series!

River and Vaughn see each other again after almost 4 years apart. River had Vaughn's baby but he never knew until now. River didn't bother trying to find Vaughn because other people looked for him, including her brother, and no one could find him. Once Vaughn learns about Marcy, he charges into town looking for River and to meet his daughter. Circumstances caused Vaughn to leave and he knows that River has every right to hate him. River just wants Vaughn to leave and not have to deal with the feelings he brings up in her. Vaughn finally realizes that he wants to be a family and sets about proving himself. When Vaughn finally opens up about part of the reason he left, River takes it with grace and compassion. When the whole truth comes out, River and Vaughn have to decide if they can stand together to make a future and don't let anyone or anything get in their way. It was nice to see the growth and self-confidence coming back to Vaughn and for River to understand that, even if Vaughn leaves again, she can stand on her own two feet. It was well done and flowed well. I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

From the description, I thought this was going to be a sexy bad boy romance. It wasn’t, exactly. It is sexy, but also very small town and blue collar. Nothing wrong with blue collar. That’s the way I grew up, but it’s not what I like to read about nor what I was expecting. So for that reason, it was a let down for me.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

So I never realized that this was a book written years ago, not that it really mattered I was just shocked, and I was also a little upset with myself to find out that this was the second book in this series, but I will rectify that. Now I notice that I am hit or miss with Tessa's books, some I love some I am like, huh what happened there. So we have this second chance roman between River the town good girl, and Vaughn the bad boy, the one who wont amount to anything. So of course Vaughn is going to be a little self conscious about that. However he left her and that was a no, but he didn't stay on my bad side long, because when he came back after finding out that she had his kid he was gun-ho on correcting his mistakes. I liked the town, I liked everyone except the dad, he was just a miserable person..What I didn't like was the corny/sleazy sex talk, yeah so did not work for me. romance :)

I went on an emotional roller coaster with this book. Vaughn and River have an explosive chemistry but there are hurts that prevent them from moving forward. It's a story about second chances but also of redeeming yourself and believing that you are worthy of love. Vaughn is the typical bad boy with a troubled past that has a hard time believing he is worthy but I loved River and the way she tore down his walls, even it took them a while to get to the finale.

Holy heat Batman. Jeez louise...this one is hot. Definitely not for the feint of heart. Vaughn left River three years ago, breaking her heart in an effort to get her to do better than him. Then he finds out that she wasn't as free as he wanted her to be and he has a 3 year old daughter.

The heat and passion that Bailey wrote is out of control. I had to remind myself to slow down because I was reading so fast it felt like I was missing things. It was just too good and I needed to know what was going to happen. It's not many authors that can get me to do that.

I do wish we had a little more interaction with their daughter and that we had a bit more closure with her father, but all in all, I really really enjoyed this one. Passion is something that Vaughn and River will always have, but watching them learn how to include communication and sharing was wonderful. And I can't stress enough how hot these scenes were. My goodness....
