The first novel in the Plague Times series. (Either great for today, or... not so great, depending on how you're faring during the COVID pandemic.)
A Lovely Way to Burn is an interesting, well-written and well-composed crime story, set during a pandemic. Welsh does an excellent job of blending the two genres (crime and dystopia) into an engaging story. Interesting characters, good plot. Very good. Looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

I wanted to like this one, but just couldn't get into it. I felt to me it dragged and I didn't connect well with characters or even really get invested in much of any of it. Slow, predictable, nonmeshing characters.
