A more in-depth story about Georgina from the previous book in the series, extra interesting as it overlaps the previous book to do so. It explains why an ice queen is the way she is. It's her debut season and she has a secret to hide, so she has prepared for years to be so outstanding that she'll land the uppermost eligible man available as quickly as possible before anyone finds out.
Colin is a successful businessman with top social connections, but Georgina is out of his league in social circle. Little by little her facade slips, and by the time he learns her secret he's hooked and does everything he can to help her. Meltable scenes, sweet love, Christian messages. Great story to get lost in. Expect to cheer!

There were some great points to enjoy in this book.
The complex sisterly relationship—featuring love, jealousy, and competition—between Georgina and Miranda felt real. It was exciting to see a pair of sisters so well written.
All the ups and downs of the plot lent themselves well to an emotion-filled tale. Because the plot felt more organic and less ridiculous than the previous two books in the series, my emotions stayed engaged throughout the story.
The desire to write well was clear from the opening scene. At that point, I had no clue it would take such a huge role in Georgina’s journey. My writer’s heart latched on to that aspect of this story, and I rather enjoyed Georgina’s struggles even more for her determination to improve her abilities.
One theme stood out strongly to me: Our shortcomings make us none less worthy of God’s love. This theme was beautifully expressed throughout the book, and it felt quite profound.

This is an extremely funny historical romance!
I love reading books by this author. She is one of my go-to writers when I need something lighthearted and good for a laugh. This book definitely delivered on the laughter side. At the same time there was a side that caused me to think whenever Lady Georgina’s difficulty came into play.
I had gotten into the story quite aways before it became apparent that she had an actual problem that she was working to hide. Until then she just made me angry with her seemingly self centered attitude. Many times early on I just wanted to shake her and tell her that the world didn’t revolve around her.
I loved getting to see how the Hawthorne family was doing. It was nice seeing the final part of the previous book from a different character’s perspective. Since the two books overlapped there really wasn’t any lapse in the family progression. We did get a very nice look at the family dynamics and how the siblings relate to with each other, especially Georgina, the younger daughter.
I just wish I had had time to read it sooner. The plus side of that is that the rest of the series is already written.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

First the bookish details. This is the second book in the Hawthorne House series and it can be read as a standalone; however, I strongly recommend reading the first book (A Noble Masquerade) before reading this one. An Elegant Facade includes some of the same events described in the first book; however, this book is told from Georgina's point of view instead of Miranda's. In the first book, I didn't really like Georgina, because I found her annoying and a bit stuck up; however, after reading about the events from her point of view, my opinion has definitely changed. Overall, I give this book, five out of five stars ***** and would definitely recommend to put in your TBR pile .
Here's a bit of the story :)
Lady Georgina Hawthorne has a secret. A secret that not even her family knows and she's determined to keep it that way. She's been planning her debut into Society for three years and is thrilled when she hears that the Duke of Marshington is making a reappearance in society on the same night as her debut. That night at the ball, it appears that every eligible bachelor wants to dance with her... everyone that is, except the Duke - who seems to have his sights already set on her sister, Miranda. Not one to be discouraged easily, Georgina is sure she can overcome that small obstacle, so she decides to think up several ways to get the Duke's attention. Now her biggest problem seems to be that her plans keep getting spoiled by the ever annoying, Colin McCrae.
Colin McCrae is intrigued by Lady Georgina. She is absolutely beautiful with her golden hair and brilliant green eyes; however, he knows that she would never be interested in a match with him because of his position. Since he knows that Ryland (the Duke) is only interested in Miranda, Colin decides that he wants to get to know Georgina better, even though it appears that she's already set her sights on Ryland.
This is one story you don't want to miss! This book (and the whole series) is the perfect blend of romance and comedy, and it's definitely high on my "Must Read" list.

An excellent historical novel in the same genre of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. It brings us a wonderful story of Lady Hawthorne who is trying to marry well and thus provide a life for herself.
Her preparations for her “Coming Out” season are excellent and her chances of finding a match are good. But then comes Colin McCrae, a man who is someone whom she will find she clashes with at every step. Will they ever find common ground? Will she ever see something in him that can redeem him in her sight and thus make him an eligible match? Or will she continue to clash and thus push him away.
For him he finds that his first impression, which he usually trusts, might not be correct. But as they continue to clash, or maybe say, have a war of words, will he find that she is someone to challenge him and keep him on his toes for the rest of his life?
The tension is good and the writing is superb.
This will become one of my favorites to suggest to friends.

Thank you for the chance to review this book, however, unfortunately, I was unable to download this title before it was archived

this was a charming regency. Really kept me engaged and wanting to see how things would unfold. I actually enjoyed how it overlapped with the first book, it was fun seeing those characters from a different perspective, but also loved when they faded and the book become more its own. I did wish to see the aftermath of when Georgiana reveals her secret to her family, we get to see some, but there was so much build up to it I would have loved to see more of how they handled everything. Anyway, I really enjoyed this and I'm looking forward to reading the next one! Great series.

An Elegant Façade is the sequel to [book:A Noble Masquerade|24856069] and a great continuation of the series. It made me see the heroine (who is the sister to the lead character in book one) in a different light. I wasn't a fan of Georgina in book one, but after reading this story I actually like her now...and I can't believe I didn't guess her secret in the first book!
I loved how the start of this book wasn't from right where the first book ended, but instead earlier and we got to see things that had happened in book one from Georgina's perspective with this story (if you've read some of Sarah Sundin's books, it's kind of like that). You would think that would be boring, but it actually was quite interesting! I also loved the hero and seeing things from his POV.
All in all, I loved An Elegant Façade and, while I liked book one a bit more than this one, it was still a great read. I am eager to pick up the next one.

As much as Georgina acts like a brat for the first half of the book, she has a really wonderful coming about as she learns a more healthy way of dealing with her secret. There is a big overlap with the first book in the series, but told from Georgina and Colin's POV's. I didn't feel like I learned too much more from this and the repetition made me want to skim through those scenes. Once Miranda was rescued and Georgina really started having a change of heart, the book vastly improved for me. I'd rate the second part of the book 5 stars. Colin's feelings for Georgina deepen at that point, and their interactions increase in quantity and quality. I loved how Colin challenged her in his charming and disarming manner and they shared fun banter that grew increasingly genuine. There is a strong message of faith that I appreciated and it was wonderful to see how Georgina's turning to God with her struggles strengthened her and gave her the courage she needed.

An Elegant Facade
Hawthorne House #2
By Kristi Ann Hunter
Lady Georgina Hawthorne has to be perfect, it is the only way to secure a good marriage. Only a titled marriage can protect her from the secret she has been hiding for years. This is her debut season and she is determined to be the most sought after lady of the season.
There's just one problem her older sister Miranda is about to embark on her fourth season, something that Georgina fears could reflect badly on her own person. A sister on the verge of eternal spinsterhood was a most unfortunate association, indeed.
But when Georgina finds herself continually coming into the company Colin McCrea, she quite put out fearing that an association with this untitled business man might lower her standing in society. And being around Lady Georgina while his friend Ryland, the Duke of Marshington, pursues Miranda is not something Colin delights in. Though he does enjoy a lively exchange of words with her when they meet.
And to Georgina's horror Colin seems dangerously close to discovering her hidden shame. But when a crisis occurs Colin may be Georgina's only hope in keeping her secret hidden.
An Elegant Facade and A Nobel Masquerade tell much of the same story but from the viewpoint of different characters Masquerade told Miranda and Ryland's story and Facade tells Georgina and Colin's. An lovely and moving story as Georgina struggles with creating a version of herself to show her family, friends, and society to who she truly is in her heart. The illusion, though beautiful and lovely, is shallow and cold. The time has come to decide who she wants to be, but will she remove the mask or claim it for the rest of her life.
I was provided a copy of this book through the Bethany House blogger program in exchange for my honest review.
