The Order is book 1 in a five book series. Although it is a long book, over 600 pages, it was an easy read.
I found it to be interesting, well written, with good characters, romance and world building. When the book opens, Eryn lives in a village with her father. They are the village healers, and use both magic and medicinals to heal. Things go south for them when Eryn draws the attention of the baker's son, Krion. A sequence of events begins that years later, leads to Eryn being given over to the king of their country. Since she can do magic, she is given to The Order, a group of magical warriors, to see if she can be sufficiently trained to join them. Only Eryn doesn't want to be a warrior. Her love interest is Enric, the second most powerful magical user in the Order. I loved the story of his (slacker) early days.
I particularly enjoyed the seeing the village and then the city through Eryn's eyes. I literally felt like I was there. I recommend this book to lovers of fantasy romance.

The writing syle was great, but this was just not one that I could get into.
