I've tried reading A Touch of Crimson again and again, but somehow always ended up comparing it to similar titles to a degree that I couldn't focus on the story at all, which is a shame, because apart from the fact that this has a Creator who punishes his creations (so sue me, I just don*t like that as a concept) this book has so many good tropes going for it, starting with a male lead who's been in love with the heroine forever, and her reincarnating but oblivious to their history. Urban fantasy setting, opportunities for realistic cynicism.. all there.

And yet, there I was, thinking about Nalini Singh, Meljean Brook and Ilona Andrews. Not because Sylvia Day tried to emulate them - I don*t think she did. Her work stands as its own and I*ll give it another shot in the future. But for now, it appears my brain won*t let me read titles too similar to one another without going full on analyst. Here goes excel. Sum(..)

Anyway - I do think loads of romance lovers will enjoy this series, so check out the excerpt if the blurb sounds interesting to you. :)

Unfortunately. I was unable to finish this book and have to put it on my DNR list.
I was unable to connect with the character and therefore unable to get invested in this story.
I hope in the future I might try to revisit this series.
