Cute book to read during the summertime, especially if you enjoy mermaids. Unfortunately I struggled to finish it.

I didn't enjoy this book, but I DID allow my oldest daughter access to my kindle so she could read it. Her perspective was vastly different from mine, but that makes sense. This book is written for a younger audience and I can appreciate what the author set out to do with this story. I am also not a huge fan of YA fantasy (or really, fantasy, in general) so the intended audience is certainly not me. I understand this is book 1 and there is a second and third book available for those that enjoyed A Thousand Salt Kisses. I have learned my lesson and will steer clear of fantasy (and YA, for that matter) for the foreseeable future.
Thank you to NetGalley and Wise Ink for the digital copy to read and review! I would prefer not rating this book because as I mentioned above, it was not for me, but I'm sure many readers enjoyed it! In the interest of this platform, I will rate it 2 stars out of 5.

This was a cute summer story with mermaids and mermen trying to adapt to her new environment she had just moved to and experience things outside of her norm. In that she finds love, there's family tensions and risking everything for the one you love.

Good day! Before anything else, I would like to extend my deepest, sincerest gratitude for sending me a digital review copy of this book (via NetGalley). Thank you very much for the opportunity!
Unfortunately, I am sad to say that I have lost interest in this particular title, and consequently, I have decided against finishing it. Forcing myself to finish a book I am disinterested in (solely for the sake of finishing it) can only negatively impact the entirety of my reading experience, which, in turn, could result in me writing an unfairly negative review. That is a circumstance I hope to avoid. With that said, I believe that the best course of action is for me to simply not read it and to refrain from publicly posting any feedback regarding this book.
I hope you understand where I'm coming from. Again, thank you for the lovely opportunity!

I unfortunately had to quit reading this one around 10%. I am struggling with the writing style and finding everything too cheesy.

A fast-paced fun read with characters who I liked hanging out with. I also appreciated the environmental element. The book is a good, light summer read.

Nice summer romance involving mermaids, nothing special, but not entirely poorly executed either.

Really nice book with great writing and really nice characters. I am always one to be excited about mermaid books, and this was no exception.
Would read this again and recommend it with no doubt!

I started reading this book, but didn't feel engaged and stopped.

You know? I’m really glad I came across a good Mermaids/Mermen book. I liked it, it was a good change from the basic contemporaries.
But…
I think it had potential to become the next bestseller you know? If only it were a bit more original. I think I related a lot of scenes to some of Twilight’s, and honestly, I don’t think you should use scenes or conversations from other books to make your book a better one. I think the writing style could’ve been better. Although the story itself was absolutely brilliant and totally original, the problem was with the writing.

A Thousand Salt Kisses had so much potential. I mean, why wouldn't it? It has Mermaids. Unfortunately, this book was a DNF because it fell flat. The mermaids weren't swimming for me. The narration was too juvenile for my liking. I understand that Young Adults use colloquial language, but this is a bit insulting: "My blonde hair transformed from a frizzy bush to silky waves overnight, while my face went from round to shapely as all my puppy fat somehow disappeared. My new-found beauty had been reflected in lame, pervy jokes from my male classmates, and, even worse, in the sudden hostility from the other girls."
