A weak storyline, weak characters and weak writing. There was also a lot of tell rather than show. We're told repeatedly that Auntie Jenny is ill but not with what. We're told Charlie and the boys are best friends who text loads but they don't have many conversations or texts.

In the UK I can't imagine any 13/14 year old (year 9 age) needing a childminder, you go to a friends house or just home on your own. The book wasted a lot of time on the school trip and completely rushed the whole ending making everything a bit jumbled. Also were the dreams prophetic/magical or not? It was implied they were but it was never covered.

Super quick and easy read with likeable characters and a decent plot. Despite this simplicity, the characters have depth and you’ll find yourself engaged from from the first page.

When Dreams Come True is a nice book, one I would recommend for teenagers. At first, I have my doubt. I thought, I wouldn't enjoy it much. I mean, it's been a long long time since I was a teenager *lol but I'm glad I was wrong. It's a simple yet enjoyable book for young readers. It relates with some issues most teenagers are facing in their lives. Issues like friendship, family, having a crush toward a boy/girl, dating etc.

I like the way Ms. Emin described the interaction between Charlie and her Mum and Dad. They seem close. These days, teenagers tend to shy away from their parents. I’m glad this book shows otherwise. And the way the story was wrapped up is also satisfying.

I had a really hard time connecting with this book. Charlie's voice was distant, didn't connect me with the moment. And it didn't help that the entire first section was all preteen relationship drama, none of the family secrets promised in the description.

I am sorry I never got a chance to read this. My phone would not download it. I apologize.

When Dreams Come True is a British coming-of-age story that focuses on friendship, family and growing up. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story as it felt so relatable and instantly brought me back to my school days, making me nostalgic for both the simplicities and complexities of growing up.

Surprised to find that this was a novel, since the cover looked like a graphic novel.

When Dreams Come True is a British coming-of-age novel about Charlie (Charlotte) who would rather be biking or palling around with her three best friends Toby, Max, and Allie. But as the new school year starts, her friends, especially Allie, seem to be more interested in the opposite sex. While Charlie doesn't understand this sudden change, she finds herself having some of the same feelings.

When her aunt becomes suddenly ill, Charlie ends up missing school as her parents take care of her aunt, but she's still able to catch up with her friends when they come to visit on the weekend.

Led by teenage emotions and coming-of-age confusions, When Dreams Come True is a good read for someone who wants a book that focuses on crushes and first kisses. Other parts of the plot, like Aunt Jenny's illness and some family drama, are not as well developed.
