Tamzin Clarke is your average teenage girl. Dance classes, dating a musician, good group of friends, happy family life. That life is turned upside down when her older sister is murdered. As more murders occur, the town realizes they have a serial killer on their hands. A serial killer who seems to be following in the footsteps of Jack the Ripper.
This book was ok. It was fast-paced and gripping, but the writing was also clunky at times. Sometimes the actions of characters didn’t seem realistic to me or seemed forced. It also felt like the author couldn’t decide what kind of book this was. Sometimes, it had the light, fluffy tone of a YA rom-com, and then there would be extremely graphic descriptions of violence. They didn’t mesh well. I also was not a fan of the supernatural element. I prefer realistic mysteries that are logical; with this one, anything could happen because of the elements of magic, ghosts, etc.
I’d give this a 2.5, but I bumped it down to a 2 because even though it was a relatively clean book language-wise, there was randomly a chapter with a ton of f-words. Again, pick your style of writing and stick to it!

I honestly didn't like this book and I tried. The main character, Tamzin Clarke was just not believable and overall the story was just boring. I'm hoping the author's next book is better than this one was.

Tamzin Clarke v Jack the Ripper by Lauren Stock was one of those mysteries within a mystery stories that make you question every character and interaction. It starts out normal enough with an everyday girl enjoying her life until tragedy strikes. Once she gets involved in trying to help solve the mysteries that suddenly envelop her community everything changes for her.
Definitely a most intriguing story, it will keep you guessing all the way to the end. The narrative sometimes gets confusing with so much going on, but it stays interesting.

Tazmin is devastated over her sister's death. She was killed when she was working undercover to catch johns. Tazmin has a great support system to help her with her sister, Vickie behind dead. The death resembles the killings of Jack the Ripper. As I read along, I got to know Tazmin better. When
Tazmin meets Daniel, she starts to question everything. Who is Daniel? She works for her dad in his antique store besides teaching dancing to 5-6 years old. While in her dad's store, a little girl that Tazmin babysits comes into the store. The owner of a club comes into the antique store asking if there is anything new? He sniffs the little girl and Tazmin saying that they smell good.
The novel is great. The characters are written well. I enjoyed reading it.

This was a cute read from my perspective. I liked the use of an old character in storytelling being used in a unique and fresh way. I wasn't thrilled totally with the writing style. It felt like it was written for a younger age group then I would have first assumed it was for. For that reason I am only giving it 3 stars.
