Lex and Gabi had fabulous banter as enemies and even when they cross the line into lovers. Their feelings for one another only grows stronger as they spend more time together. This is a sexy, funny read that was as good or better than the first book of this series!

I absolutely adored The Matchmaker's Playbook (review to come soon!), so when I found out that Lex and Gabbi were getting their own book - I squealed with joy! And THIS BOOK WAS EVERYTHING I EXPECTED AND SO MUCH MORE!

Lex is the cocky, evil genius hero that I absolutely adored at first sight in the book and Gabbi is the woman who doesn't let him get away with his crap! Sounds cliche but TRUST ME IT WORKS! This romance is all about their connection, a connection that I absolutely fell in love with. They are argumentative, snappy and sarcastic with each other, BUT IT WORKS. Oh boy, does it work!

They didn’t nickname me Lex Luthor because I was a button-down-wearing gentleman who said “please” and “thank you” in the bedroom.

I was the villain.

The Dark Side.

The dirty.

The bad boy the girl brought home to piss off her father, though the joke was almost always on the girl, considering I was a Mensa member—I just didn’t look it. To most girls I was the dark, brooding, motorcycle-driving loser just waiting to flunk out of college. Little did they know: I had more brain cells in my pinky finger, more money in my bank account, than they could possibly imagine—or add using all ten fingers.

Lex Luther, is the brains behind the Wingmen Inc.,  - a company that he co-owns with his best friend and roommate, Ian - a way to help girls land their unrequited crushes and/or their crushes - all the while making loads and loads of money.

The only rule - they don't sleep with their clients. Not that Lex needs the help. He is hot, intelligent and gives off the bad boy vibe, that girls always flock to - but that's all they actually get. His body. Not his mind, not his attention. Because that has already been given to Gabbi, his roommate's best friend/ sorta -sister.

It is so much fun getting inside Lex's head - if you see him superficially, like we did in The Matchmaker's Playbook - you would think that he crass, arrogant and absolute irritating. But that was just the surface.

He is also caring, loyal and feels so deeply that it was a wonder my heart actually didn't burst out of my body - with the pain and the love he held for Gabi inside him!

He is the hero, I have always believed to be the best kind of heroes - they might get on your nerves most of the time, but it is depth of their love and loyalty to their woman that keeps me coming back to them!

“This is natural. Normal . . . You’ll like it.”

“Are we sure? Maybe I won’t, and then I’ll disappoint you and get fired!”

Lex burst out laughing. “This isn’t part of the test, Gabs. You won’t fail.”

I whimpered in embarrassment. “How would you know?”

“Because you’re Gabi,” he said simply. “You succeeded the minute you walked into my life and threw me on my ass. Failure isn’t really an option where you’re concerned."

Gabrielle Sava aka Gabi is the one woman who doesn't treat Lex like the hot guy he actually is! But that doesn't mean that she isn't affected by him - of course she is.

Gabi is a woman who gets the "hotness" of Lex and makes sure to keep him on his toes - but the fact that he insults her at every turn, isn't exactly condusive to a relationship. Not to mention their best friend Ian would absolutely have a conniption.

She is also a woman used to dealing with life's problems alone - so when she gets into a pickle, a pickle she is trying really hard to keep from Lex's hacking ways - the only way she can stay afloat is to get on board with The Wingemen's Inc - catering to the male population, putting her in direct contact with the one man who she wants but really can't stand!

“You’re an animal,” I rasped.

“Gabs.” He didn’t look away from the screen. “I mean this in the nicest way possible, but you look like hell.”

I growled. “Kitty got bite?”

“Kitty will scratch your eyes out if you say ‘kitty’ one more time.”

Tap, tap, tap. Lex’s chair swiveled, revealing him in nothing but boxers, damn him for being so sexy.

“Pussycat?”

Lex and Gabi together are HOT. HOT. HOT. HOT!

Like flaming hot. Their banter, their altercations, even their romance - everything is a foreplay with them. And THEY. ARE. THE. PERFECT. MATCH!

I adored their connection, their romance and their conversations but best of all, I am so glad that even though these two were pining for each other from the start - their relationship wasn't amde out to be an insta-love!

I mean, seriously - they were so STUBBORN and THEY TOOK THEIR TIME TO OPEN UP - and while in other cases, it would have made me want to scream at them - with their history, it made the perfect sense.

Plus, it was so much fun to actually to see their journey to the point of actually accepting their feelings for each other. Lex showed so much angst at not being able to be close to the one girl he actually wants, and Gabi, she just sees glimpses of the man who could be perfect for her, but the a**holery kept that man from him.

The romance is not only humorous, but has depth and emotional foundation that is hellava more than could be expected from a rom-com - but it is the character growth of Lex - or more to the point, the Unveiling of the Original Lex that steals the show in this installment!

Trust me, if you are new to RVD, this is the series that you should start with - I did, and I haven't looked back since! :)

Our eyes locked on each other, and a lifetime of conversations took place in the look she gave me. It wasn’t confusion, just pure want, desire.

When we slowly pulled apart, our noses still touched, and I still kissed her, didn’t push her away, didn’t even pull out.

Because she wasn’t just any girl.

She wasn’t a one-night stand.

She was the girl I’d wanted ever since she blinked her big green cat eyes up at me in defiance.

I've been on such a Rachel Van Dyken high, that I wanted to continue reading, and put the other book I was starting on hold.

But I was only a few lines in when I realized I'd already read this book. No idea why I'd never given it a review or changed it here on Goodreads to 'read', but I got to enjoy it all over again. I was cracking up whenever Lex and Gabi would go after each other. I loved their oneupmanship name calling. I even loved the internal dialogue which showed how they really felt and how most of the time it was a defense mechanism to keep the other from knowing how they really felt.

So good, so funny. Sad it's over and wish there was more to the series.

I loved this book. I fell in love with Lex and Gabi in the first book and was I was so excited to get able to read their story. This book had me laughing most of the time. I love books that make me laugh. I was hooked from the beginning and didn't want to put it down to go to bed. I really like Lex, he wants everyone to think he is a "villain" but he is truly. "Superhero". Rachel Van Dyken never disappoints me, she is one of my go to authors because I know I will love what she writes. I was gifted a copy for a fair and honest review.

Damn, Rachel did it again. I totally fell for Lucas Thorne. He is the guy you want to hate but totally fall for in the end. This was a funny, crazy story. Thorne has a woman for each day of the week. They know up front about the arrangement so he thinks it's not cheating. but when Avery walks back into his life, things start to change.

Omg I loved Lex so much. I had a huge smile on my face the entire time ready...

Now that Ian is out of the matchmaking business, it's up to Lex to carry on the company and maybe even get a little help. What he didn't expect was his arch enemy to come into the fold... Gabi.

These two were always at each other's throat, never being able to stay in the same room for more than a few minutes before the claws came out. But now Gabi is going to be helping Lex with the day to day running of Matchmakers Inc... adding guys to the mix. Lex is not a happy camper about it either.

Even though the two have always been full force frenimies... when the two start working with each other, some of blinders start to fall. Lex is pure evil like Gabi thought he was and when Lex starts to figure out what Gabi is really about... Lets just say sparks start to fly in full force.

I love a great enemies to lovers story and Matchmaker's Replacement will have you rolling with laughter as these two go full on.... to something so much more.

Rachel is a masterful storyteller that will keep you turning pages so fast it could start a fire. I inhaled this book and loved every minute of it!

Lex is the supervillain to Ian's superhero especially when it comes to Gabi. They fight like cats and dogs. Some of the funniest moments are when they are bickering back and forth. This book is hilarious. It's a book that is best read when you are alone or you will have people looking at you wondering what's going on. Lex and Gabi are suppose to work together and of course or doesn't go as planned.

This is a book I would recommend to family and friends as well as book I would read again.

The Matchmaker's Replacement is the second book in the Wingmen Inc. By Rachel Van Dyken. It is a standalone story, though fans of the first book will recognize the main characters here from the first book in the series. The Matchmaker's Replacement centers around Ian's best friends Gabi and Lex. I couldn't wait to get my hands on their book, and I really enjoyed it!

Gabi and Lex have never been able to get along but after Ian and Lex's matchmaking company grows, Lex is forced to face the fact that they need Gabi's help. Lex doesn't want Gabi anywhere near his business and Gabi needs this job more than anyone knows as she has a secret she has been hiding. But as Lex begins to train Gabi, things begin to change and neither of them are prepared for how their feelings towards one another are becoming less about fighting with one another and more about loving one another. Soon they are unable to stay away from each other, and both of them begin to wonder if they could possibly be a match themselves.

I really liked these characters a lot. I knew I was going to like Lex coming into this one, but I had no idea how much. As we got to know him, there was so much more to him that you would first expect. He was so much sweeter than you would ever expect, and I loved that about him. I also really liked Gabi and found her much easier to relate to than I had expected. I went into this one a bit wary, but she was so strong and I ended up liking her character a lot. These two had a ton of chemistry and you could see the sparks flying between them, but the best part about them was that they were so different and that was why they worked so well together. These two were the perfect example of opposites attract and I couldn't get enough of them.

Overall, another really great book from Rachel Van Dyken. She is such a talented writer, and I love that she can take so many different tropes and throw them into one story and make them work. She just has a way with words and I always really enjoy every book I read from her. Lex and Gabi's story was one that I was both anxious and excited for, and Rachel Van Dyken proved once again that I had no reason at all worry because she always does her characters justice. These two were so much fun to read about and I loved that we got the sweet, sexy and emotional sides of both of them. I have really liked both books in this series, and I definitely recommend you give them a shot if you are looking for a great all around story.

I absolutely adore this series I really didn't know what the story line could be since Gaby and Lex hated each other so much, but as everyone knows that just makes the sexual tension that much better! I love how Rachel's books get steamier and steamier with each new book I just know the next is going to be amazing! As always Rachel you blew me away!!

The Matchmaker's Replacement is a contemporary romance by Rachel Van Dyken. It is the second book of Wingman Inc. This story focuses on Lex (Luthor) supervillain extraordinaire and co-founder of Wingman Inc., a dating service for the socially awkward. Lex is challenged with training the new hire Gabi. She is childhood friend and "sister" to Ian (The Matchmaker's Playbook). Needless to say, Lex is warned away from pursuing a relationship with Gabi until four years later. After a long time love-hate relationship with each other, they give in. This review doesn't give due diligence to the dynamic between the characters. It's a fantastic read filled with sexual tension, fighting, and aw moments. If you enjoy the Seaside Series by this author, I definitely recommend this book.
