On Broken Wings is the third book in Chanel Cleeton's Wild Aces Series. If you have followed the series, then you will be well acquainted with Alex Rogers AKA Easy. Well, this is his story....his and Dani's story, who if you have followed the series you also know her as well. Easy has loved Dani since the first time he saw her, but she was also the wife if his squadron commander and close friend Joker, so he would never go there. It's been a year since Joker was tragically killed, and he's been miserable, ridden with guilt, even though he has nothing to be guilty for, and completely in love with Dani still, though he knows he can never go there. Still, he finds himself volunteering to help her with her house, and to be her "friend" again, despite his better judgement. The thing is, the more time they spend together, Dani begins to see Easy in a different light as well. Things happen, and these things complicate matters further. This combined with another deployement for Easy take both Dani and Easy on a journey they neither one saw coming.

I loved getting to know Easy up close and personal in On Broken Wings. I also loved seeing he and Dani finally get "their" story. Their's is a story that is filled with heartbreak, but it is also filled with love, passion, and friendship that turns into so much more. The journey they take isn't an easy one, but it is one that is so worth taking with them. If you are a Chanel Cleeton fan and/or a contemporary romance fan in general, On Broken Wings is something you will most definitely want to check out.

Shel: Truthfully, I finished reading On Broken Wings a few hours ago and I've been trying to avoid writing about it because then it'll mean that it's over. *sobs*. One of my favorite military romance series is over?! Can it be? I'm not ready to let go of these guys and their women; they all had such heart and authenticity. Court: These fighter pilots are so hard to let go of, I'll tell you that for sure! I was just so nervous to read this one, though, because of Dani...but Easy is so dang easy to love and make it a wonderful journey.

Shel: Easy and Dani's story was one we'd both dreaded and anticipated. We knew it would be emotional with these two and it was. Easy, this sweetheart with a manwhore reputation, was so deeply in love with Dani that reading his parts were so heart-wrenching. I felt so much for him--I admired his restraint, loved how protective he was of Dani, and adored how closely he paid attention to her and could read her so well. And then there was his guilt and how he beat himself up for how he felt--it was impossible not to feel for him. I also felt for Dani--she was consumed with grief and having such a hard time moving forward without feeling like something wasn't quite right. It seemed like every step forward was so hard fought and not always with a reward...unless it happened with Easy. Easy made her life easy and I kept hoping she'd figure things out; see how much he adored her and allow herself to take a chance with him. She deserved a life, a guilt-free existence, but it seemed like anything more than friendship with Easy was a one way ticket to Guiltsville and therefore off limits. Court: Though, I enjoyed how genuine and authentic it was. I liked how they made sure that the other realized that it was okay to talk about Joker and remember all of the sad and happy times. I enjoyed immensely (and cried a lot) every page of this book. The feelings that Dani has are warranted, and it took her a while to get her head wrapped around everything that had happened in her life. She had suffered a lot of loss in a short amount of time, and I am so glad that she had someone like Easy to lean on...and yes, Shel, he was seriously brilliant about it. Did I want to kick her for not realizing how he felt? Yes, but I was so glad with how everything happened at its natural time.

Shel: As you can guess, there were many scenes that I just hoped one of them would take the leap and do something or say something. I knew it would take just one of them tipping their hand a little and then maybe they'd have a shot a something special. To Chanel Cleeton's credit, she gave Dani and Easy exactly what they needed, on a timeline that worked for their circumstance--she didn't rush the pacing and when things finally happened the emotional fall out was exactly what you'd expect (and lent that authenticity that I enjoy about her characters and this series). Dani and Easy's happily ever after didn't come neatly or quickly but man, when it came, it was a beautiful thing. Court: Yes. Nothing was instant. Nothing was rushed in the pacing of the writing (and the writing is brilliant) and the characters that we know and love made an appearance. I like how the secondary characters that got the most air time were Burn and Jordan, since they started this whole thing, it was nice to finish with them and where they were in their story. Even without the fighter pilot parts of this story, their love is beautiful, but with the military aspect and her finding a way to decide whether or not she could still support this man doing what he loved...that was beautiful too. Sacrifice takes many forms, and this one is definitely about sacrifice on both parties. How the book progressed surprised me, to be honest and that is all I can say!

Shel: I didn't know I'd be so hooked on a series of fighter pilots but I'm completely enamored with this series. Cleeton's experience in this fighter pilot world gives these books that added insight and truthfulness that combined with her interesting characters and fantastic writing all adds up to one of my favorite military romance series I've read. Court: She hit every single one out of the park, but I was glad to see this one come (I'd been waiting on it since the very beginning... Alex Easy Rogers has been on my mind since the beginning and wouldn't let go!) and I'd gladly reread these books and characters any time. In the meantime, can't wait for what Chanel brings us next!

I had waited anxiously for Easy’s story since we had the pleasure of meeting him in Fly With Me, book 1, in this fantastic series of hot, alpha fighter pilots. Author Chanel Cleeton delivered a story worthy of his character. Easy is a sexy, gorgeous, fun, cocky, yet, he is loyal, reliable, a true friend and leader. In short, he is as perfect as they come.

“I love her. I shouldn’t, but I do. I don’t know how not to love her.”

Easy’s character is caught between doing what he feels is the right thing and giving in to the feelings he has for the woman he’s loved forever, his friend and wife of his dead close friend. Easy struggles and it made me love him even more. Dani is a sweet, beautiful, strong character and completely unaware of Easy’s feelings for her. The attraction she begins to develop surprises her, while I’m cheering her on.

“I’m all in here. I’ll wait however long I have to until you’re there too.”

Dani and Easy’s relationship grows and develops naturally throughout the story, making it feel real and getting me completely invested in their outcome. No insta-love. No insta-lust either, but the readers and most of the other characters know how intense his love for her is. I really wanted Easy to get his HEA. Author Chanel Cleeton did such an awesome job showing the vulnerable, deeper side of the wise-cracking, woman magnet fighter pilot. I laughed, I got emotional, and I held my breath, hoping, all the while turning pages, devouring the story in one sitting. There were some frustrating parts and it felt a little rushed towards the end but that doesn’t take away from it being a great book. Easy gets 5 stars and my heart.

I definitely recommend this book and this series. It is sexy, funny and has the right mix of drama and angst to engage and captivate.

On Broken Wings is part of author Chanel Cleeton’s Wild Aces Series, and while it can be read as a standalone, in oder to experience the intense emotion in Dani and Easy’s relationship, I highly recommend reading the first two books…because this relationship is so touching and beautiful you WON’T want to miss a second of this building storm!
Where to even begin in telling you all how much I loved this book? A heroine who has suffered a devastating and crippling loss, not just once but twice, in her lifetime. Trying to pick up the pieces and hold herself together. Trying to jut survive each day. A hero with a deep love for someone he could never ever have…until now. His feelings running so deep and so pure for a woman he has loved from afar for as long as he can remember. The push and pull of attraction and swirling emotions between two people who share such an intense history but don’t know what to make of what they are feeling. How to reconcile all of it. They both know it’s ok to move on but neither one knows how and neither one wants to put the friendship they have on the line in order to explore their attraction. Because what if it all blew up in their faces? She’s sure she wouldn’t survive another loss. He just wants to be happy, even if for a moment. Man, there is just SO much to love about this book! My chest ached for these two. I wanted nothing more than for them to have their chance at a happy ever after and I was a nervous wreck they wouldn’t get it. Luckily fate was on their side and gave them the perfect reason to give life together a chance. *dreamy sigh* I just adored this book!
I mentioned earlier that you really should read the first two books in the series to understand the emotional connection between Easy and Dani. Truly, what they share is so special and I definitely want you to get the whole scope of what they’ve been through, apart and together. I tried so hard not to devour this book in one sitting but I just couldn’t!
Thank you, Ms. Cleeton, for this beautiful and emotional read. It’s a story I won’t soon forget!

Easy has no trouble getting the girl and he's had plenty of them. But none can hold a candle to Dani, the wife of his squadron leader, Joker. So he's loved her from afar all this time and tried to be as decent and reliable a friend as possible. But now that Dani is a widow, Easy is in a hopeless situation. He vows to do what he's always done: be there for whatever she needs. Still grieving her devastating loss, Dani is struggling to put herself back together. It helps that she has good friends looking out for her, especially Easy, who has been with her through good times and bad. But she's not ready for the complications that arise when she notices a shift in her feelings for him.

This is the one I'd been waiting to read. Easy was the steady but always anguished character in the background and I wanted desperately to understand why. Cleeton took a sensitive storyline that allowed us to get to know Easy outside of his well-crafted public persona. This is the Easy people don't get to witness: an unbelievably tender and patient man who's doing everything he can to make life easier for the fragile woman in front of him. He won't allow his true feelings to compromise anything because Dani and what she needs come first. Always. If only we could clone him! And Cleeton describing Dani's loss and how her grief could be triggered unexpectedly caused me to hold back a tear or two. I have no idea how I'd handle myself but I would certainly hope for the strong friendships expressed here. Easy and Dani's friendship does wind up taking off into uncharted territory with a surprising turn that adds some spice to their storyline.

The romances, camaraderie, losses and heartbreaks have shown that the Wild Aces are a loyal bunch, devoted to each other, which is why I have enjoyed this series immensely. I can also attribute that enjoyment to Chanel Cleeton's style - a pleasant mix of sweet and steamy without going overboard. I'm always excited to read her work and out of this series, On Broken Wings has become my favourite!

Do you know that feeling when you meet a secondary character in a series that steals your attention from the second he appears on the pages? That was Alex “Easy” Rogers for this girl. Now it’s no secret that I have a weak spot for the unrepentant manwhores, but there was also something much more to Easy. He was the goofball of the group, the easy going one always quick with the jokes and a smile, but you knew that beneath that is the heart of a man much more complex that he first appears. I’ve been slowly dying in my wait for his book since first meeting him in Fly With Me, and all I can tell you after finishing this book is he was absolutely worth EVERY SECOND of the wait. Every. Second.
I don’t know what to do anymore. She needs me to be her friend; I can’t stay away from her. And I can’t stop loving her.”
If you’re expecting your typical manwhore hero, think again. Alex is such a complex character. His jokes and smile a facade to the deep feelings he hides, but his love for his fallen friend and brother in arms is his worst kept secret. Alex has been in love with Dani Peterson since he first laid eyes on her… as the loving wife of his best friend. Dani has been an unreachable and unattainable dream for him, so he drowned himself in easy and forgettable women, but nothing erased his feelings.
A year after the tragic accident that took Dani’s husband from her, she’s still trying to pick up the pieces of her life. Her one constant has always been Alex. Unlike everyone else of their friends, Dani is absolutely ignorant of his feelings for her. He’s never made a move, always respecting her boundaries and their friendship while being her rock. But soon Dani’s feelings begin to take a turn from the friendly camaraderie she’s always had for Easy to something much more. But will the guilt they both have over their feelings get between a love that may save them both?
For a moment I stopped pretending everything was okay, that loving her wasn’t broken glass slicing through my veins, leaving me bleeding out, that the sheer fucking torture of wanting someone I couldn’t have wasn’t a constant ache that brought me to my knees and made me feel as though I’d broken an unspoken promise. “Don’t you get it by now? There is no one else. There never will be anyone else. There’s just her.”
Can I just say how much I loved this book? Words can’t describe all of my feels for it. It’s so poignant and sweet, emotional and gutwreching. I absolutely loved the way that Alex is with Dani. There’s no one else for him. He doesn’t try to deny it, or spend his time on meaningless hookups. He’s well past that point. The man was just perfection. He’s patient, understanding, sweet beyond words.
Dani struggles with her building feelings for Alex and her memory of her beloved husband. My heart simply broke for her. I respect the fact that this author didn’t go the easy route and try to make light of her relationship with her husband. She still loves him immeasurably but her feelings for Easy are not discounted either. It’s no small feat to pull that off. To make the reader truly invested in their relationship and BELIEVE it, while still honoring the memory of her husband.
I get scared with romances with a dead spouse because so often an author will try to discount that relationship in order to more easily sell the present one. That was not at all the case here and man but I loved it.
This was no typical or cliche; it was a story that will stay with me for a long LONG while. The feelings between Dani and Alex wasn’t less or more…it just was. It was a different kind of love but a love nonetheless. There’s no stereotypical drama at the end; just two people dealing with a hard past in order to build a future.
I’m happiest with my feet planted firmly on the ground. But my heart—It flies.
On Broken Wings was a poignant and beautiful romance packed with emotion and meaning. It was full of swoons and steam. There was no clutter to take away from what Dani and Alex go through on their way to their HEA and I loved it. I loved every second of it. I loved every page of it. I. Just. Loved. It.

Perfect finale to a great series. All 3 books of the Wild Aces series captivated me in a very different way. They all have a the military perspective, but they each had a very unique plot line.

Stop here if you haven't read the first 2 books. Yes, they can all be read as standalones, if you are OCD like me, you're gonna want to read them in order.

So Dani and Easy... I was the most excited about these two. With their past and tragic loss I just knew there all be pain and hurt, and I wasn't disappointed.

Their relationship always was a strong friendship that grew over time. They've been each other's shoulders after Dani lost her husband.

Easy always loved her from afar, even though she was married to one of his best friend/boss. It was an attraction he fought hard for a long time.

Fast forward a year after Dani became a widow and they they are back in each other's lives. There is so much pain, grief and guilt throughout the pages as they slowly began to heal.

Conflicted about their feelings they struggle.

My heart ached for both of them as they navigated the unexpected turns in their lives.

"Love was different once you’d known loss. Now I held on a bit tighter, knowing all too well how it felt to have your heart ripped away from you."

The Wild Aces series is a perfect mix of stories with heart and steam and just the perfect amount of military life mixed into them that they will have you continuing to turn the pages.

"Love was different once you’d known loss. Now I held on a bit tighter, knowing all too well how it felt to have your heart ripped away from you."

Sweet Jesus. I was consumed by the first two books in this series - sexy pilots falling in love and crazy, heart pounding drama - how could I not be?! But those stories have nothing on Alex and Dani's romance. On Broken Wings' love story reached deep down inside of my soul. All of the guilt, yearning and passion was gripping and intense. I freaking loved every moment.

If you're reading this series than you know that Dani tragically lost her husband. You also know that Easy has been in love with her since the moment he first laid eyes on her but that he has also fought his feelings for his best friend's girl with all that he has.

At the start of the book, several months have passed since Joker's death and Dani finds herself struggling to find her new normal without him. Easy might be the only person who brings her true comfort but lately it's confusing for both of them. New and old feelings are simmering all around them, waiting to boil out of control.

It's captivating reading. I was devouring page after page completely caught up in their unfolding story. I couldn't begin to understand the guilt and heartache that tortures Dani and Alex. But thanks to the author's incredible writing, I felt the chemistry and budding feelings. And as I read, my heart was screaming out for more.

It wanted Dani and Alex's feelings and lust to be unleashed. I wanted their happiness. I wanted them find solace in one another's arms. Because even though this relationship was born from the loss of another, it was oh so enchanting and romantic.

This book is amazing and it must be experienced. Don't miss out on Chanel Cleeton's On Broken Wings. It is a must read.

Heartwarming. Poignant. Devastatingly beautiful. These are a few words that comes to mind when describing Chanel Cleeton’s latest new release, On Broken Wings. It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of the author as Cleeton continues to soar high with her sizzling romance that packs a punch when it comes to the matters of the heart.

To say that she is flying high is an understatement because Cleeton once again delivers a love story that has you on cloud nine. With her heart tugging and emotional prose, Cleeton allows her readers to get lost in a world of hurt, love, passion, hope and second chances. Readers like myself are swept away as two people found solace, love, friendship and comfort in one another. What may be seen as somewhat a forbidden and uncharted romance, Cleeton douses her readers to feel the beauty that surrounds Dani and Alex as their friendship soars into a new territory of possibilities.

When it comes to this type of romance, authors usually dismisses the previous relationship and focus solely on the present and in this case of On Broken Wings, Chanel allowed readers to see the love Dani had for her deceased husband and her emotional struggles of sharing and opening her heart. I applaud Chanel Cleeton in that aspect because she made me feel for her characters as they face and tackle their emotions and feelings for one another. So if you are looking for a read that was visceral, breathtaking, raw, uplifting, and special then I urge readers to come aboard and fly with Chanel Cleeton as she soars into your hearts with a romance that is wildly addicting and heartwarming.

Last year when I read Fly With Me, the first book in the Wild Aces trilogy, I fell completely in love with Noah, Jordan, and the cast of characters. I thought I couldn’t possibly love the next book, Into the Blue more, and yet Thor and Becca captivated me as much as Noah and Jordan did. Again, I didn’t think I could love the final book, On Broken Wings more than the first two, but I did. It’s hard to choose since all the books and all the characters are amazing, but Easy and Dani’s story might just be my favourite of the bunch. This whole trilogy grabbed my heart from the beginning, making me laugh, cry (and I do mean cry...like, ugly cry at times), swoon, and fall in love.

I knew On Broken Wings would be emotional. Considering I sobbed like a baby when Joker died in the first book, I was sure it would be painful to read about Dani moving forward with her life. Pair that with how much Easy loved Dani and was completely prepared to never act on his feelings, and I was sure I was in for an emotional ride. I wasn’t wrong. Within the first few pages of On Broken Wings, I was already tearing up, and I cried several times throughout. Dani’s grief really resonated with me. She and Easy both had grief and guilt to deal with, and had to find the strength to move forward with their lives even when it hurt like hell. I found myself nodding along in agreement to a lot of the things Dani was thinking and saying about grief. Cleeton captured that feeling - the sadness, the anger, the regret, the confusion - so well.

I’ll admit, I was a bit worried how things were going to be handled in regards to Easy and Dani’s relationship, since Dani was a widow, and Easy had been a close friend of Joker’s. I don’t want to give anything away, but I will say I thought it was handled really well - with respect and care - and was one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve read in a long time. It was both heartwarming and heartwrenching, and I loved every moment of it.

On Broken Wings is the perfect end to an amazing series. With a complex set of characters, beautiful romances, and real emotion, the Wild Aces trilogy has become an all-time favourite. The characters in this series have a special place in my heart and won’t soon be forgotten.

The realistic, angst-filled series about the Wild Aces fighter pilots is the kind of book series that you grow attached to, where you think of the characters as your real life friends, and On Broken Wings was no different. Readers started begging for an Alex "Easy" Rogers story from the moment they met the handsome player in Fly With Me and Chanel Cleeton has given fans what they asked for. I knew there was going to be more to Easy than what we first see in Fly With Me. We've seen him party and sleep around, but we also saw him admiring Dani from afar. He's a bit of a tortured soul, painfully hurt by the loss of his friend and fellow pilot, and even more affected by his endless pining for the girl he cannot have, that same pilot's widow. I absolutely fell for him, swooned over every sweet moment and every moment where he held back his feelings, harboring his secret crush though it hurt him to do so. Dani, as a character, absolutely blew my mind. I don't know how Chanel so accurately represented the loss of a significant other, how she perfectly took the feelings Dani experienced and allowed the reader to be affected by them as well. I wanted her to have her happily ever after, I wanted Easy to have his happily ever after, of course I wanted them to have it together, but I just wanted them both to be happy no matter how I got it. Y'all, I bawled like a baby from 75% to 100%. There was no stopping the waterworks once they started, I was just that invested into Dani and Easy.

"Some women slid under your skin so deep, you couldn't carve them out no mater how hard you tried."

"This was heaven and this was hell, and I swallowed up every single moment."

The story between these two is heartbreaking, yet at the same time it filled my heart with so much joy. Individually they seem to have nothing together, their lives in shambles, but together things make sense. The story is a roller coaster, predictable at times, but one you jump onto and ride all the way through. These two don't fall together like a usual romance, things between them come with history that can't be ignored. Both have heavy weights on their shoulders, but for me that is what made the love story between them just that much more realistic. Chanel Cleeton is the best type of writer, she brings ever scene to life, the situations are realistic, the dialogue flows naturally, and there's no insta-love to be found anywhere. It's heavy, real life stuff that makes the Wild Aces series just that good and it's why readers have fallen head over heels for all the pilots, but especially Easy.

"-I wouldn't ever let her go again. Friends or lovers, we would always be in each other's lives. There were some bonds that were forged when you needed them most, unshakable connections that spoke to a shared history, an understood pain."

On Broken Wings is definitely my favorite of the series, I loved getting to spend time in Easy's head, to get to know Dani outside of her marriage to Joker, and to revisit some of our favorites from Fly With Me and Into the Blue. If you are looking for a contemporary romance with handsome men, smart heroines, and sexy, swoon worthy moments, the Wild Aces series is a must read.

Wow, what a great way to end a fantastic series!

Easy”Alex” Rogers has been in love with Dani Peterson for years. Since she was married to his commander and best friend he knew that nothing would ever come of it. Then when Dani’s husband died on a mission everything changed. Vowing to be there for Dani during the difficult time it starts to become harder for Easy to stay just friends with Dani – the after one heated afternoon everything changes.

Dani has spent the last year mourning the death of her husband and really her life as a fighter pilot’s wife. Easy has been Dani’s rock but the more time they spend together the more her feelings start to change. Can she move on, should she?

I have loved this series since the beginning and have been waiting for Easy and Dani’s book and I am so happy Chanel Cleeton did not disappoint. The emotions that these 2 characters go through was heartbreaking and so real. Told in dual POV’s you go through an emotional journey; the love Easy feels that he can’t act on and the guilt of moving on with her life and not wanting to that Dani is going through. There were multiple times reading this that I tears going down my face and not even realizing it. The subtility of Ms. Cleeton’s writing was so well done, you as the reader don’t even realize it happened. We do get to see Becca and Thor and Jordon and Burn but make no mistake this is definitely Easy and Dani’s love story.

A great romance that as a standalone is fantastic but if you get a chance to read the entire Wild Aces series you won’t be disappointed

5 Wine Glass #Review of On Broken Wings by Chanel Cleeton

Crystal's Thoughts:
I have been waiting for Easy and Dani's story since first reading Fly With Me back in March of last year. I knew it wasn't going to be an easy story, despite Alex's call sign. I knew that both of these characters were going to have to be broken down before they could be built back up enough to accept a relationship together. I knew their journey would be a roller-coaster ride of deep emotions. And it was all that, but it was also so much more!

We first meet Alex "Easy" Rogers, in Fly With Me as Burn's best friend and fellow Wild Aces' fighter pilot. There we learn that he is not-so-secretly in love with their commander's wife, Dani. A love he never acts on, and doesn't plan to, even after Joker is killed in a training exercise. But after the loss of her husband, and still struggling with the loss of her unborn child, and the family that she could have had, Dani is floundering. Unable to watch Dani's suffering any longer, Easy steps in. He's the shoulder Dani needs, the strength she's lost, and the connection she has been denying herself since Micheal's (Joker) death. If that is all he can ever be to her, Easy accepts that, but despite his best attempts not to, he will always love her. All Dani see's in Easy is his friendship though, until she realizes the hard, sultry body attached to that shoulder she's been using to cry on. When the lines between friendship and attraction start to blur though, guilt threatens to drown them both.

On Broken Wings is a heartrending beautiful story filled with love, loss, heartbreak, and hope. By the end of it, I had tears of joy and happiness in my eyes. Written in first person point-of-view, you have a front row seat to the turbulent emotions that each of these characters go through as they struggle with death, danger, and desire. There is no denying the sizzling tension between Dani and Easy, especially when Dani realizes that there is more to Easy then his happy-go-lucky attitude and simple friendship. When Dani begins to see Easy as an actual man, instead of just one of her best friends, the pulse-pounding attraction lights up the pages.

Cleeton builds a vivid world around Dani and Easy of the very real dangers, and the stress that it can put on relationships while being a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot, or in any military branch really. The writing flowed without a hitch, pulling me along with each new page. There was enough humor and sexy snippets in the story to keep it from being weighed down by the emotional upheaval. However, it's the characters that define each new story for me. The pull between Dani and Easy, their undeniable chemistry combating with their perceived loyalties, held me captivated. I couldn't help but empathize with them and their struggle. I simply loved these two characters, and was swept away with their journey to a happily-ever-after. No one deserved it more then Dani and Easy.

Chanel Cleeton delivered a powerful story, and a phenomenal end to this must-read series with On Broken Wings. I really couldn't have asked for anything more in this book, except maybe for it to never end! Haha. The Wild Aces, is hand's down, my favorite contemporary romance series of 2016. You don't want to miss a single page!

I'm giving this book 4.5 stars. I think this is the best book of the series.

I have been seeing books by Chanel Cleeton around for a while now and I was in the mood for an angsty romance a couple of weeks ago when I decided to pick up On Broken Wings. It was definitely very very angsty and sad, but I also found the book to be addicting in every way. Books about widows are always hard to read, especially with romances, and On Broken Wings’ heroine, Dani, was really struggling with the death of her beloved husband. It broke my heart to watch her reminisce her memories with him, and Cleeton explored her emotions beautifully. Even sadder was watching Easy struggle because after all, he has been crushing on his best friend’s wife for a while. It’s a complicated situation for sure, but the author handled it well, in my opinion, never turning into a betrayal. The two of them are very uneasy about their growing feelings for each other, but I loved seeing them be each others’ comforts and then eventually fall in love. Both Dani and Easy fit well with each other personality wise. The romance was a slow-burn one, with plenty of pain in between them. I’m not going to lie, there are some scenes/plot tropes that I found to be quite cheesy, but I don’t know, I just really loved these characters and it got me reading the book in a day. All in all, On Broken Wings was definitely the book I was hoping it would be and I will be going back and reading the rest of the books in the series.

One of my most anticipated reads EVER!!

Easy became my favorite character of this series very fast, his heartbreak was like a pull for me, I just couldn’t help to feel for him and hope that everything would work out in the end.

I loved this book, so very much. It made me sad, swoon, cry and angst all in one day, I couldn’t stop reading I just had to know that everything was going to be alright that they were going to finally be together and happy and enjoy life.

On Broken Wings deals with the loss of someone you love and how impossible it seems to open up your heart once again without any type of guaranty that you aren’t going to suffer and know loss once more. I love the way Chanel writes these characters in nothing short of perfect and beautiful, she is in no way trying to erase the past but having her characters embrace it and also embrace a new future, this book brought out so many feelings in me because I kept putting myself in Dani’s place, I felt her anger and her fears and having that connection with her made me fall even more in love with this book.

I think you can read this book as a standalone but if you do you will be missing on a lot, to really understand these characters you have to go to the beginning of the Wild Aces series, I promise you will not regret it.

On Broken Wings is a raw, emotional, utterly breathtaking romance. I’ve been eagerly anticipating Dani and Easy’s book since the first Wild Aces story, Fly with Me, and Chanel Cleeton did not disappoint. I smiled, I cried, and I loved every bit of this book.

I absolutely loved Dani and she just about broke my heart. She’s lost at the beginning of the story, her life shattered not just by the death of her husband or the miscarriage she’d suffered before that, but the way her life has broken apart around her. She was used to being part of a unit, and as a military wife her life was built around Joker’s career. Ms. Cleeton gives a compelling portrait of a widow putting her life back together, of how she handles grief and comes back to life. Dani is so strong, but the weight she carries threatens to crush her even as she works to build a new life. I loved that Dani felt real, that Ms. Cleeton managed to give her grief and struggles weight without dragging down the story. I especially loved watching Dani come back to life and fall in love again. It isn’t an easy to have a romance where the heroine genuinely loved and was loved by a good man and then falls in love a second time. Too often either her first marriage is glossed over or her new love doesn’t feel as powerful. Fortunately, Easy and Dani’s love story is as fantastic as I could have hoped for.

Easy grabbed my heart from the very first Wild Aces book and didn’t let go. He’s a cocky F-16 pilot with an easy charm, lethal sex appeal, and gorgeous looks, but most people don’t look beyond the surface to see the man within. Easy has a heart as big as the ocean and he’s so completely gone over Dani that it broke my heart. Her husband was one of his best friends and Easy never wanted either Joker or Dani to know how he felt. His guilt and his grief over the death of his friend make him want to put some distance between himself and Dani, but when she needs him he can’t help but be at her side. His love for her is selfless and beautiful, and I couldn’t put On Broken Wings down because I wanted to see that love returned.

The romance between Dani and Easy isn’t a smooth ride, but it’s a great one. Watching them go from friends to lovers was fantastic. While Easy has been in love with Dani from the start, obviously it’s not the same for her and I liked how their relationship developed organically. Seeing them handle the complications of their attraction to one another and their very realistic emotional reactions that sprung from the changes in their lives kept me reading late into the night. There’s no false drama in this book, only mature protagonists in tough situations doing the best they can. For all the emotional ups and downs in On Broken Wings, it’s a story of hope and finding love and happiness. The heartbreak is so worth it when the happily ever after is as amazing as Easy and Dani’s is.

On Broken Wings is the third book in the Wild Aces series, and if you don’t mind spoilers for Fly with Me and Into the Blue it can be read as a standalone (though you’d be missing out). Every book in the Wild Aces series has been exceptional, and On Broken Wings brings everything together in such a way that fans of the series are sure to have big grins on their faces by the end of the book. I loved everything about Dani and Easy’s romance; it’s one of those special stories that stays close to your heart.

I was looking forward to this book as much as I was dreading it; I knew On Broken Wings would be a tough, emotionally draining read and I wasn’t wrong, but it was also a tale of great joy. I wept a lot throughout this book for what these two people lost, for the guilt they felt, for every little emotion they went through, for the unrequited love that had spanned years, but also for the happiness, the tender moments, the realization of something more, and the unconditional love they found in one another. On Broken Wings was a journey years in the making; it was a journey that only happened because of a tragedy, but one two people realized was worth taking because life is precious and meant to be lived fully, deeply and with those you love.

One year after Dani Peterson’s husband, Michael (aka Joker) died in an F-16 crash; Dani is back in Oklahoma and trying to sell their home. The home she planned to live happily ever after in, when she about has a meltdown in the paint isle of the home improvement store Alex “Easy” Rogers steps in to help her which isn’t easy for a guy who has been in love with her from afar for years.

This was such a complicated and complex story and it was beautifully written so that each layer unfolded at just the right time. Easy trying to protect his heart had stayed away from Dani, never realizing what dropping out of her life did to her. They had been friends because that’s all he could be to her despite the fact he was in love with her, he’d stayed by her side following her miscarriage when her husband was on a mission, he stood beside her at his funeral to give her his strength, and he let her go back to her family because he knew it was the right thing to do. I have always loved Easy despite his somewhat manwhorish ways, it was easy to see he was a good man and dedicated not only to his career, but to his friends. My heart broke time and time again for Dani, for all that she lost and for the guilt she felt when she began to realize she was having feelings towards another man and not just any man, a man who had been her friend and a friend to her late husband. Easy was carrying his own guilt because no matter how hard he tried, he could not stop himself for wanting to be with Dani even if all she could offer him was friendship he was willing to forgo his happiness to be there for her. I realize this is sounding like an angst filled story and while there was some, it was warranted and it wasn’t overdone and there was so much more to this book. Written in first person the reader is privy to every thought and feeling these characters go through and for that I’m thankful.

So much happens between Easy and Dani and not all of it is good; they really had some issues between them and neither one is sure how to handle it and while the majority of this book spans several months, they spend a good part of it apart, but that isn’t a bad thing as it gives them time and perspective to really examine their own lives and what they want out of them.

I really cannot convey how intense and emotional this story was or the fact that it contained so much happiness, love and complete bliss. Ms. Cleeton’s Wild Aces series has been spectacular from the start, but On Broken Wings is flaps down, throttle forward, full speed ahead, let’s break the sound barrier good! It I could give this book ten stars I would, that is how much I loved this story.

I’ve never had a lovelier ugly cry than while appreciating and enjoying this romance that healed and remade what was irreparably broken. This was book hangover of the acutest kind as I clutch On Broken Wings to my chest and signed deeply with satisfaction after experiencing the entire book so acutely.

On Broken Wings was the third of the Wild Aces books. Oh yes, it most definitely needs to be experienced in order so the reader gets the full impact of this romance. I have no idea if this is the end or just the end of this series plot thread, but there will be something more coming to go in a new direction. It felt like a finale to me and a well-written one at that.

Since Fly With Me, the reader has known that Alex ‘Easy’ Rogers is in love with Dani. First she was untouchable because she was his squadron leader’s wife, but then she was completely out of his reach when Joker dies. Or so he thought.

Easy loves Dani so much and grieved that he couldn’t have been the one taken instead of her husband so that he stayed away for nearly a year. He thought it would make things better, but one encounter in the store shows him that nothing he is feeling has lessened. Only now, he changes his approach and gives Dani the friendship she needs to help her with the drowning in grief and emotions. His help is with a practical matter that leads to a restoring of their friendship. He struggles with this designation, but anything for Dani.

Dani has been lost inside herself for so long until she is startled awake when her friend Jordan talks her into a blind date and Easy helps her getting her house ready to sell while providing his easy friendship. The date is a disaster, but the restored friendship is a success. Too successful because in one moment, she realizes there is something more. Will that something more cross a line with her love for her husband and fear of caring for someone, particularly a fighter pilot, again?

As you may have surmised from my earlier remarks, this was an emotional power house. I was balling before I hit five pages, but that was nothing to the tears I shed during chapter nineteen- there you know when to have tissues at hand. However, it was not one long sobfest. In between there was a beautifully crafted romance that paced out just right for this potentially risky choice of a grieving widow and a guilt ridden friend. I thought it felt authentic and respectful for the situation. Very mature writing to achieve what she did with the story.

It was a thing of beauty to see Easy finally get his chance and the caring and careful way he courted Dani. There was hesitation and lots of fear, but they were friends and deep friends at that before it became more. I don’t see it as often as I’d like in romance fiction, but this was superbly developed.

I also enjoyed how the couples from the previous books were dove-tailed into the story of Easy and Dani. Noah and Jordan mostly, but there were a few appearances of Eric and Becca, too.

So, all in all, this was fantastic and exceeded my high anticipation for the story. I strongly recommend this book/series to lovers of contemporary romance with a military element.
