The Girl in the Pink Shoes is the first book I have read by Stacy Green, but it won't be my last. In fact, I already have the next 3 Lucy Kendall books downloaded on my kindle. Lucy Kendall is a Private Investigator who has her own business on the side, one she doesn't get paid for. She is a vigilante who has killed several child abusers and pedophiles. She used to work as a Child Protection Services Social Worker, but when a case goes wrong, she quits. Now she works with a computer whiz, who also works for the police and a chemist to do her work. When an eight year old girl disappears and she finds out that a man who raped and murdered a schoolmate years ago lives across the street, she is sure he has her. She is joined by another man, Chris Hale, a paramedic, who tells her he is a psychopath, but he knows what she has been doing and uses that to force her to let him help. Between them, they chase down leads, work with Kailey's mother and Detective Todd Beckett to try and find her before she ends up another dead child.

What can I say about Lucy. Murder is never justified, or is it. She is a complicated woman with a different view of right and wrong. Lucy believes that in order to save others, she has to kill these abusers. There were times I liked her and cheered her on, and other times I didn't like her very much. It's a thought provoking story that I found myself thinking about long after I finished. The case was difficult, with more than one suspect which is a sad commentary on our world today. With any story dealing with child abuse, it can be difficult to read at times, but I found it was not too descriptive, but could still be a trigger to some readers. There were a lot of twists and turns and at times, I wasn't sure who to trust or who was being honest. I was glad that Lucy was willing to skirt the law a bit to get to the man who had little Kailey. I will say that once I started this book, I didn't want to stop. I definitely recommend this book to those who like thrillers, involving other law enforcement or Private Investigators. I am ready to start the next one.

Lucy Kendall is a lot of things ..... a former social worker, now working as a Private Investigator, the sister of a murdered older sister, lots of experience with those men who like little girls ... and she's also a serial killer.

Of course, she doesn't see herself as a serial killer , more like someone who is taking out the garbage. The men she kills have all been turned back onto the streets to hurt more young children. And if nothing else, she brings justice to those young victims and their families.

When a young girl goes missing, Lucy finds a link to a predator she has faced before ... and his brother is the lead investigator into the girl's disppearance. She more or less forces herself into the case, determined to find the girl and put away another predator.

Up until now Lucy would tell you once a predator, always a predator. But there is something about Justin ... is he really the same as he was years ago? Would he have stayed out of trouble all these years and then act upon his urges now?

Chris Hale is the son of a murderer, a man who is now behind prison bars. He also knows Lucy's secret and he wants to be her partner in crime.

Is he who he says he is? Could he possibly be the person who abducted the missing girl?

Full of twists and turns, with a surprisingly explosive twist keeps the reader engaged in this story. I don't generally root for the bad guy, but is Lucy really a bad person, even though she deliberately kills? There is lots of suspense, lots of action, and plenty of red herrings to keep your eyes glued to each and every page.

This is the first of a series and I highly recommend this one to anyone who likes crime fiction.

Many thanks to the author / Red Coat PR / Netgalley for the digital copy of ALL GOOD DEEDS. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Book Review: All Good Deeds by Stacey Green, One to read!

All Good Deeds is a quirky private investigator story with a nice twist at the very beginning which I'm biting my tongue not to let slip.

When a child goes missing Lucy Kendall an ex social worker come private detective becomes involved in the case. She is convinced that a recently released child murderer is to blame and her concerns increase when she realises the murders brother is the lead detective investigating the child disappearance. ( I suspended belief about him being allowed to continue to lead the case because I enjoyed the rest of the story so much.

All Good Deeds is beautifully layered to provide a cracking good read. Lucy's unorthodox character is a delight. The way Green slips in the backstory so unobtrusively is laudable. Above all this story is about the vulnerable and the exploited. It is sensitve and very thought provoking
