Larry Macklin is the sheriff's son and a reluctant employee. He doesn't take a huge shine to the job and doubts his decisions, mostly after he's already made them. I enjoyed this book so much that I've continued reading the series. It's an easy read, yet not so easy to solve the mystery until it's time. A.E. Howe is an entertaining author and this is an entertaining series. Enjoy!
