Good but not great, I enjoyed it, but didn't make a lasting impression. I wouldn't recommend it to friends or coworkers..........

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishers for this review copy, given in exchange for an honest review.

On The Parole Board is a true life account of Frederic G. Reamer’s 24 years serving on the Parole Board in Rhode Island. He has decided on the fates of thousands of inmates, judging which ones are ready to re-enter society and those who are not. This is his story on how he made those decisions and how a variety of factors come into play when deciding.

I love real life memoirs so was keen to read this one. It is a good book which I did enjoy reading. It gave an honest account of how decisions on the Rhode Island Parole Board where made. A highly informative book showing how so many different factors are taken into account when they make their decisions. I imagine it must be very difficult having to make some of those decisions and also having to carry around the ‘guilt’ for those where it obviously was the wrong decision. The author does himself state that he didn’t know whether he got them all right.

An interesting and factual board for anyone interested in the American Criminal Justice System, whether it be from the prison workers point of view or the prisoner/family’s point of view. Bear in mind that it is an American book, so obviously differs vastly to the Parole Board in the UK.
