A great cozy mystery! I loved being immersed in Marley’s world, and this book just kept me guessing until the end. Excited this is a series!

Very good start to a new [to me] series. I really enjoyed this one, even if I had the murdered figured out near the middle of the book. I like the characters and the small town atmosphere. I think these could be very good.

I received this book for free, and going into it I was expecting the experience to be like getting the monthly free kindle books through Amazon Prime...some are unreadable, most are passable with some major issues, and every once in a while there's a gem that really knocks your socks off.
This book fell into the large middle category for me. It wasn't quite as cheesy or predictable as most romances, but also not particularly thrilling. It was a cute story with a number of holes in it (the most glaring being the loquaciousness of the sheriff...why yes, I'll just tell you and anyone who asks every piece of info. I have about ongoing investigations. I also kinda hoped for a real twist, like the too-good-to-be-true love interest actually being in on it (spoiler, he wasn't). But it was an enjoyable read that didn't make me cringe too much.

This was a delightful mystery, and I had a hard time putting it down. I was hooked on the story from beginning to end

It took me a little longer than usual to finish this one. It's not a bad book and was semi-enjoyable once it got going, but the writing really slows it down. It's very draggy and it was fairly easy to figure out who the killer was. There were a lot of good elements and characters, but they just weren't used to their full potential.

I enjoyed Sarah Fox's writing-- her characters were likable and the plot was very good. I liked the mystery and it was a book that I had a hard time putting down.

If you love mysteries that are written just well enough to keep your interest and are a female baby boomer you will probably love this book. It is good for a beach read or maybe a road trip or on a plane.

I received this book free through Random House Monthly Mystery in return for my honest review.
The mystery was intriguing with a bit of a twist at the end. I had speculations early on about who done it, but not their reasoning (which is somewhat less important to me as who done it)! I felt Maggie had a conflicting personality with struggling to be her idea of the typical Sunday School teacher but still living in the community she does. Her going back and forth between wanting to throw rocks and her neighbor and feeling sorry for him. Overall it was a good read. I was kept entertained and was curious to know what happened.

This was a cute book. I could see myself reading it for a social book club. It is not usually the type of book I would read but I’m glad I tried it out. The characters were well developed and I could follow along at my leisure. Well done!

The first of the Pancake House Mysteries introduces readers to Marley, who has taken a leave of absence from her job to come to Wildwood Cove to run her Cousin Jimmy's place, The Flip Side, while he recovers from an accident.
She has enjoyed meeting people and working there, but Jimmy is just being released from the hospital so she figures she will be heading back home soon.
Little does Marley know that circumstances are going to change her life forever over the course of a few days.

This is a wonderful murder mystery story about Marley McKinney who is helping her cousin Jimmy out at his pancake house, The Flip Side, in Wildwood Cove. Jimmy has been in the hospital but calls the pancake house to say he is taking a taxi home. He has checked himself out of the hospital.

Brett Collins was a boy Marley had spent summers with when she visited Jimmy and his wife Grace. He shows up at The Flip Side just as she is closing up for the day. Marley’s heart says she still has feelings for Brett. But just as the conversation is starting between them, Leigh, an employee of the pancake house, bursts through the doors to say Jimmy has been found at the bottom of a cliff.

Sheriff Ray Georgeson is called and starts an investigation. He is Brett’s uncle.

Not to give too much away, blood is found on the steps of Jimmy’s house, stolen paintings are found in his shed and glitter is found on his body. How do all of these things add up to finding Jimmy’s killer?

Grab a copy, find a cozy spot and read the answers for yourself.

It's not often that I get in on the ground floor of a new mystery series. Usually, someone hands me a book and it's the fourth or tenth in the set. This series would almost be better to jump into mid-stream. Marley, the lead of the book, is just getting into her groove. She spends a good portion of the book being sad about the loss of her cousin. Understandable, but not entirely fun to read. The mystery itself is a little hack. You know who did it pretty early on and then the author spends the remainder of the time throwing out red herrings. I like the way Marley finds the clues, though. She stumbles on most of them, which is more believable. Rather than the type of mysteries where the armchair sleuth suddenly becomes an ace detective overnight. I think this series will be much more fun now that all the introducing of main characters is done.

Although I received this book free in exchange for my honest review, all opinions stated here are completely my own

What great little read. It is written well and goes by quickly. This is the first book in a while where I really could put myself in the lead females shoes. Yes there are other books where I relate to the main characters but this one I could really be her. Crime in a small town is almost unheard of but murdering a town favorite, now that makes for an interesting story.

We are following the life of Marley. She is a business professional who took some time off to help her cousin run his diner while he's in the hospital. So right off the bat you know she is good people. She is selfless. She does the right thing even when it would be easier to be quiet. She doesn't give up on people. And she doesn't stop following her instincts. Add in Brett who for some reason I picture as Chris Hemsworth and you have a great little story. But really this is a fun read. Its full of mystery, deceit, and a touch of love. But not unbelievable love, more love that could have been that is given another chance.

I think anyone who likes a good murder mystery should give this a try. Its nothing gruesome or terribly disturbing but it keeps you guessing right until the end. I would definitely read more by this author, I might even read this one again.

I received this book for free from Random House in a Chattterbox to read and give my honest review

Pancakes... recipes... and murder... This would be a fun book for a Book Club to read and met at a Pancake house to discuss. A debut mystery with the perfect mix of witty characters, quaint setting, and a to die for mystery. I absolutely loved Flapjack!!

The Pancake House Mystery series is off to a great start. I really enjoyed the Crepes of Wrath. The author starts off strong with the introduction of the protagonist Marley and some of the other main characters. They are very well developed and it feels like they are all friends, even though Marley has only been there a few weeks while her cousin Jimmy recuperates from pneumonia at the local hospital. When he checks himself out of the hospital early and comes home by taxi, disaster strikes as his body is found on the nearby rocks. With Sheriff Ray determining it was murder, Marley is thrown into a mystery. Marley is a great character, she is smart, strong, kind yet at a crossroads in her life. It is easy to see how she attracts so many new friends and fits into this lovely seaside community so well. With some red herrings thrown in, the mystery is well written, although I did figure out who the murderer was quite early in the story. This is a great introduction to a new series and I will be checking out he rest of them. There are also some great pancake recipes at the back of the book that I am going to try out. A great book for cozy mystery lovers, but make sure you already eat before you read it.

Review from 2016:

This was a cute cozy mystery. It was a slow starter for me & a bit confusing at times, but it was cute & entertaining. I'll probably try the next in the series, I think it'll be even better!

As a Chatterbox™ participant I received a free ebook copy of this title in my Party Pack.

This is a cute little cozy mystery set in a coastal town near Seattle. Like several other series, it has a food theme, this time a pancake shop. Overall, I really enjoyed the story. I did have a pretty good idea "who done it" fairly early on, but I still enjoyed reading the book. I did have a bit of an issue with Marley's behavior immediately after learning about the death, but besides that, it was a fun story. I'd say a 3.5 stars book. I would definitely read more of this series.

This is one of those cozy, comfy, hometown feeling mysteries that you can enjoy quickly over a weekend. The mystery was satisfactory and not bad for a first in a series. I did like the setting, a pancake house where there were lots of pots of coffee being poured. which is my kind of place. I usually don't care if I can connect with a character or not, but I felt like I needed to connect with the Marley (maybe I was expecting coziness) and that did not happen. However, the few red herrings kept me guessing which is a plus.
