I really liked this book. The setting was imaginative and the characters were memorable. Thank you for the ARC, I will definitely recommend this book and this author to my peers.

A young boy has a crush on a girl in his class. He knows she is a fan of birds, so he decides to make a bird costume to get her attention. This was a sweet story with very cute greyscale illustrations. I wasn't a huge fan of how the crush and the boy's actions were depicted - I think it would have been better if the boy was also a big fan of birds and that is why he liked the girl and decided to dress up as a bird.

Note: I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley. I was not compensated in any other fashion for the review and the opinions reflected below are entirely my own. Special thanks to the publisher and author for providing the copy.

This book is not for everyone. Some will love the slight vagueness of both the story and the illustrations. Others might be bothered by the fact that we never really know why the boy falls for Sylvia, or why she notices him when she does. It’s a cute story, with whimsy and fantasy.

Possible Objectionable Material:
Some might object to the boy changing himself to get noticed by the girl he likes, rather than just being himself, while others will find it sweet that he noticed what she likes and ran with it.

Who Might Like This Book:
Particularly, kids who’ve had a crush on a classmate.
