This was DNF. It started so strong, but it lost it's hook for me. I wanted to like this, the concept was unique and intriguing, I just personally couldn't connect or engage with the story.

I found the premise to the story interesting. The story flowed well, and I liked the emphasis on science and benefit, but the writing style just wasn't my cuppa.

One teen’s incredible journey may just blow his father’s mind…

Fourteen-year-old Bernard thinks outside the box. The only problem is that neither his school nor his ultra-rational physicist father appreciate his unique ideas. When he reacts to a stressful situation at school by mooning the class, his suspension sends him straight to his father’s workplace. After his frustrated father leaves him unattended, Bernard does what any teen would do: wander into the particle accelerator and accidentally get transported through a wormhole!

This is a special book, loved it

When I first glanced at the cover it confused me and enticed me to read the blurb at the same time. Maybe the author could switch the colors around to represent neuron and lightning fast signals transmitting through the brain. ie flashes of light, sparks of color, shapes resembling fireworks, etc.

I like Brainwalker. It piqued my curiosity and bring out my nerd side. It was such a good read and I enjoy this book so much and it is a page-turner, enticing I must also say. I love reading science fictions and I think Brainwalker's plot is unique, the combination of science fiction and fantasy is very clever. I recommend this to other readers that enjoys reading extraordinary stories.

Bernard is a smart kid but sometimes his brain gets in the way. He loves science and he can't get all the answers to the questions he has about the world. His mom was a scientist and his dad is a scientist. His mom died as a result of an accident in her lab. Her death has negatively affected his dad and Bernard isn't sure what to do about it. Bernard can't seem to stay out of trouble which isn't helping with his dad.

I am a science nerd. I love science. The idea that someone can be small enough and go into someone's brain and see what's going on would be so awesome! It would be even more awesome if there were in fact people and creatures living in there as well. It's a very interesting concept since there is a lot about the brain that we don't know. It would also answer a lot of questions about that one song that gets stuck in your head that you can't get rid of.

This book was well written and explained all of the scientific stuff in ways that are easy to follow. Anyone could pick up this book and after they were done reading it, have a really good education about the brain and how it works. I learned quite a bit from reading this and I thought I knew a lot of it, but it was new to me. I believe this book is written for and geared to middle school kids and I think that the author did a great job with writing something that would appeal to them. I loved that there were illustrations in the book, too. It was great being able to see what the author was envisioning for the creatures. Having the pictures is also a draw for younger kids and some older ones. I would recommend this book for ages 10 and up.

Beautiful, unique and fabulous. This book is a fresh breath in a saturated market. The plot was captivating and enthralling, the characters strong and well delivered and the mystery well delivered . I really hope for a sequel. I loved it and would recommend it to everyone

This was a DNF for me; however, I know that a lot of children and tweens are going to enjoy this.

First I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.

Now, I enjoyed reading this book. It was a good book. I've been reading a lot of serious books that make you think and this book wasn't serious or heart-breaking. It was fun and lighthearted. I definitely needed it but they aren't my favorite types of books. It was also very sci-fi which I also am not very into.

The characters were fun and interesting not necessarily super well developed. There's really no tension, the whole book sets up this happy ending and it's not really a question of how everything will end up. And the whole moral of the book was you have to use both sides of your brain, I mean it's okay and true, but I prefer books with a deeper meaning.

I did love the illustrations (I know I said I would never say it again,) but they added to the book. The way the author built the braineverse (his dads mind) is amazing. I love the way the author painted a picture of it all.

I think this book would be amazing for middle school kids who don't like to read. It's not serious, it's a pretty short, quick and easy read.

This middle grade novel is wonderfully written and readers from ages 8 - 12 will love this book.

The author has imagined an entire world inside the brain of a boy's father.

I loved the fact that the boy and his father were very different and that they had trouble communicating and understanding each other.

When the boy is sucked through a wormhole and ends up inside his father's brain, he finds himself on a mission to save his father's life.

During his quest he ends up learning more about his father and more about himself in the process.

A great read with a terrific message.
I rate this as 4 out of 5 stars

The main character of this book is the young Bernard. I loved this boy a lot. He loves science, thinks out of the box, challenges everything and is not scared to ask questions. But after his mother died in an experiment gone wrong, no one appreciates his crazy ideas and curious mind, least of all his dad. When Bernard follows his wandering mind in the 'Atom Smasher' at his father's work, he ends up going through a wormhole that brings him inside his father's brain.

This is a very unique and wonderful setting. The authors managed to make an easy to understand and fairly magical portrayal of the brain, while also being mostly accurate. It shows off the difference between the left and the right side of the brain in a fun and beautiful way.

The first third was a bit flat for me. Things went too easy, the conversations were a bit off... but the story really picks up after that. A few nice characters are introduced and the stakes rise. It turns in a fun, fast-paced and action-packed story I ended up reading in a single sitting.

Something that really adds to the story is the amazing artwork throughout the book.

Overall I found this a great book for young readers who like their science, or to waken up an interest in those who do not (yet). This wonderful story of an amazing boy in an unique world has something for everyone.
