I would say that a Plain and Sweet Christmas Romance collection is a perfect book for a first time reader to the sub genre, not for one that have been reading them for years.
Overall I was left underwhelmed by the whole book, which is a huge shame as Amish Romances are what makes Christmas sane for me.

I enjoyed this collection of Christian romance stories very much. It is refreshing to find stories that are clean and have a focus on God.

Light little Christmas stories with a love and religious theme. Amish, Mennonite, Quaker, etc communities prepare for the Christmas season. Didn't finish, but nice light reading.

Christmas traditions are so important and while the various plain religious sects celebrate in a different way, they are equally interesting. This novella collection explores the Christmas traditions of the Amana, Quakers, Amish and Mennonites. Add a bit of romance, a cup of tea, a warm blanket and comfy chair, and you have the makings of a few wonderful moments. I love reading novellas as they can be read quickly and you can read a different one each day if you like. Nine authors combine their unique writing styles to tantalize your need for romance and history. The novellas span from 1800 to 1941. I am an avid reader of Plain fiction so the various sects were not overly unusual to me, but I always learn new things as I read. Recipes from each novella are an added bonus!
Novellas in the collection:
A Crossroad to Love by Lauralee Bliss--1846, Waynesville, Ohio
Simple Gifts by Ramona K. Cecil--1880, Serenity, Indiana
A Christmas Prayer by Dianne Christner--1881, Mountain Lake, Minnesota
Treasure of the Heart by Melanie Dobson--1907, Amana, Iowa
Love is Forever by Jerry Eicher--1941, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
Love's Pure Light by Olivia Newport--1910, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
Pirate of My Heart by Rachael O. Phillips--1825, Rock & Cave, Illinois
Equally Yoked by Claire Sanders--1838, Southern Ohio
Abigail's Christmas Candles by Anna Schmidt--Hope, Wisconsin
I highly recommend this novella collection of Christmas romances. Happy reading! I am giving this book a rating of 5 stars.
I received an ebook of this selection from netgalley and Barbour Books in exchange for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own. I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I loved it, two of the titles I've read before but I still them again, thanks so much for great reads.

I don't usually read books about the Amish, Quakers, Mennonites, or Amanas. The only Amish books I've read are one of Shelley Gray's Christmas novellas and Jen Turano's Finding Margo, all picked up by accident but finished because they were good. This collection of novellas was also picked up by accident but I enjoyed the stories.

I particularly enjoyed Treasure of the Heart by Melanie Dobson and Pirate of My Heart by Rachael O Phillips.

All the novellas had the theme of deep faith that prevails over all internal and external struggles. Since I don't know much about these communities, it was fun to learn about how they functioned, especially the Amana community which I know nothing about. The theme of redemption and forgiveness was also prominent in all the stories.

Some heroes and heroines were lovable and some were just ok. It's hard to rate a book of novellas since some stories will grab your attention and some stories will just be fillers until you can get to the next one.

Overall, this collection was a quick read and fun. It was definitely different since I tend to read mostly mystery/suspense, historical (not plains-based), contemporary, and biblical fiction.

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to give a favorable review. All my opinions and comments are solely my own.
