This is an incredible, heart-pounding, financial thriller!

I really liked Esther Larsen at the very beginning of the book. It was amazing how much more I loved her by the end of the story. She had grown and matured so much throughout the book. She learned how to see beyond her own like to those around her. She found she had a number of supportive people ready and willing to help her with each and everything that she faced.

The plot of this book was very intense. There were a lot of details given about how investing works. Most of this went beyond my ability to understand. But when I put aside the attempt to figure it all out the excitement only built a lot more for me. I was completely caught up in the story and HAD to see how things turned out for Esther and all of her friends.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All of the opinions expressed are my own.

His books are intense and unpredictable which is what I enjoy about them! I always request these titles when I see them come over. His books also line my bookshelf at home!

I shouldn’t review it as the spiritual content is so marginal, but The Domino Effect will not be denied. This is a superb book! Over the years, Davis Bunn has written several books which really touched me.

Davis’ characters are unusually realistic and unique. I become deeply drawn into their lives, and care a lot what happens to them. His worlds are compelling though a bit short on description for my taste.

His stories are intricate, full of surprises, and a drawn to a satisfying conclusion. The good guys are more completely rendered, which is nice in this age of lawlessness.

The Domino Effect is an excellent tale
I’ve often wished for much stronger Christian content in Bunn’s books. But, he is who he is, and at this point it is foolish to expect improvement —though one can pray and hope. This is just a clean read, but very good. I do pray Holy Spirit can get him radicalized. He would be a powerful witness.

When I first came across Bethany in the 1970s, it was the source of some of the best powerful Christian non-fiction. I hope they return to their first love, and bring their fiction to that level in time to help with the final harvest.

“But I say to you that for every idle word that men speak, they will give an account on the Day of Judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:36-37

That’s the danger with writing and publishing pure entertainment. The Domino Effect is very entertaining, but not much more. As we draw near to the end, this question becomes increasingly more urgent, “Am I doing what the Lord hopes I would do?” Helping with the final harvest is something to which all believers should aspire.

The Domino Effect is completely different from the prior two books. This is the story of a brilliant woman with a pain-filled past and present who is aware of a looming economic crisis. As the lead analyst at a colossal bank, she has access to information and the ability to piece together that data to see that the crisis is imminent and will be catastrophic. As she becomes surrounded by a slowly growing cast that believes in what she sees and knows, she begins to realize she doesn't have to be alone anymore. The plot twists and turns with the question of will Esther be able to protect those who take her advice from the projected crash. There's an even greater question of will she be able to abort or short-circuit that crash. Add in a slim thread of romance, and this is an enjoyable read for those who like romantic suspense with a twist.

The Domino Effect
By Davis Bunn

Esther Larson is the top risk analyst at her bank, which also happens to be one of the largest within the US. Her job is, officially, to warn the investment powers that be of any foreseeable risks before investments are made. Unofficially she's supposed to find high-risk investments with big quick returns and not mention the potential downside.

But when a series of banking investments start pointing to a potential financial disaster Esther has to come out of the shell she's constructed around her life. To truly help prevent this looming and imminent threat she'll need to let someone into her life - someone who can help her get the word out before it is too late.

The Domino Effect takes the reader into the high risk world of speculative investing where everything is one trade away from bringing down not only a bank or a nation but the world's financial infrastructure. This is a world most are unfamiliar with so this is an enlightening reading experience even as the suspense builds with each flip of the page.

This was my latest up all night reading choice which may or may not be a good thing if you plan on getting a good night's sleep in. This is an excellent book if you are looking for suspense with a twist. Even as Esther attempts to prevent the disaster she sees coming someone is determined to stop her - silencing her voice permanently before she can reveal their darkest secrets.
