Thank you Netgalley for this book. I know i am late, nevertheless really enjoyed this book. I got this book, just intrigued by the title - At first i thought it was about managing bureaucracy at workplace, needless to say i was impressed with the subject matter (it is more about a business world) even though you can apply some concepts in your daily life.

I didn't understand all theories in the book - but the once i did - I was pretty amazed with all insightful work.

Really good book, and must read for modern business world.

I have always wanted to know how some companies can stay in the long run, while others just fold. Hence, this book is exactly what I wanted, with many stories of brands that I am sure you may have heard of somehow: Starbucks, Apple, for example.
But more than simply "a look", the book showed me business concepts that we can apply in our daily lives. I enjoyed the in-depth analysis immensely, because they are engaging even for a layman like me.

Just offering a quick review of several new and forthcoming business related titles from a variety of publishers: [online post contains comments about 5 titles, including this one]

The one with the most fun title is IF YOU’RE IN A DOGFIGHT, BECOME A CAT by Leonard Sherman (Columbia UP) which, as the subtitle explains, is about "Strategies for Long-Term Growth." Several case studies of successful businesses like Apple, Fed Ex and Starbucks provide a solid introduction to competitive business theory and the importance of ongoing innovation and product differentiation. An experienced management consultant, venture capitalist, and marketing professor, Sherman explains standard business models (like BCG's growth matrix, Marketing Mix of 4 P's, and Blue Ocean Strategy) while extolling the value of failure as a great teacher.
