Melody Carlson has been on my author radar since I read the very first book by her. She has a way of making you become emotionally invested in all of her characters and soon you find yourself cheering them on and praying they find their happily ever after. Melody creates characters that pull you right in and never let you go, even after the last page is read. Abby, Belinda, Grace, Cassidy and Louisa have been members of a book club for years. Abby is the glue that holds the group together. When Abby dies unexpectedly, the group’s future is uncertain. The way Melody writes, puts you right in the middle of their story, leaving you feeling like you truly know the characters and feeling exactly what they are going through. I love when an author can do that to me. If you love a heart warming holiday story then you have to give THE CHRISTMAS ANGEL PROJECT a go. You won’t be sorry and your heart will be warmer because of it.

I started THE CHRISTMAS ANGEL PROJECT one afternoon and couldn’t stop reading until the very last page. I want to get out my tree and decorations now and set it up and it’s only September. I have always enjoyed Melody Carlson’s stories and this one does not disappoint. Melody’s stories always leave me feeling warm and fuzzy inside with a huge smile on my face. As I was reading, I felt like I was right there with all of these wonderful women, spreading Christmas cheer. All four of these women have huge hearts and just want to get through Christmas. What was really cool was how the friends became angels and got just as much out of the giving as the people who were receiving. Melody Carlson has a gift for telling uplifting and inspirational stories and she knows exactly how to get the reader in the holiday spirit.

I can totally see THE CHRISTMAS ANGEL PROJECT becoming a Great American Family movie that I would love to watch. When the four friends discover gifts their friend has left each of them they are determined to become Christmas angels and help someone in some way, even though they aren’t feeling very cheerful at the moment. Melody Carlson always puts me on an emotional roller coaster and THE CHRISTMAS ANGEL PROJECT is exactly why! Now the only thing I’m sad about is, I just received her latest book Christmas story and now I have to wait for the next one! Melody has been one of my top authors from the very first book of hers that I had the pleasure of reading and when you read THE CHRISTMAS ANGEL PROJECT you will know exactly why.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Each year Melody Carlson puts out a short, sweet Christian, Christmas book and this story was exactly what I was looking for on a Sunday afternoon. Five friends in a bookclub, who have varying degrees of closeness, come together in a remarkable way after the sudden death of one of their members. Trying to figure out how to honour her memory as well as stay together as a group of friends, they decide to start the Christmas Angel Project. Each woman will choose a project that will better the lives of others and they will support one another as much as they can. As expected, they all find something that uses their strengths and the power of friendship and prayer help them to be successful. I have to include this line from the story that made me laugh. "Reading a book a month sometimes feels overwhelming." There is a tiny bit of romance, but that is not the theme of this book. Caring, helping others, honesty, recognizing strengths, not giving up and turning it over to God all play important parts in this story. I very much enjoyed this one.

When I think of a Christmas novella this is the book that comes to mind. Short and super sweet and just a joy to curl up with for an afternoon. The book opens up with a book group made up of 5 very different women and one of them unexpectedly dies. The remaining 4 come together and realize that they will honor their friend during the Christmas season and make an effort to help others in their own unique ways.

This book was the perfect thing to curl up with for an afternoon and distract me from the overwhelming to do list. It was easy to get to know the four women and they were so different so it was easy to keep them separate from each other. I loved how they each found their own way to help others that completely fit in their own personalities.

I have read all of Melody Carlson's holiday novellas and could say that this one is my favorite!

An absolutely delightful Christmas story!

The cast of characters is wonderful. They are very different from each other, but each one is extremely well developed. Each of the four women who make up the book group goes on a personal journey of emotional growth after their mutual friend dies suddenly.

I thoroughly enjoyed the way they worked together to figure out what they could do to honor their friend’s memory. I was fascinated by the very special projects that they became involved in. Four very different projects that were tailor made for each of them.

I received a free eBook copy of this story through NetGalley. I have chosen to write this review to express my personal opinion.
