Ben and Kacey's story turned out to be absolutely romantic. I really liked the descriptive parts and the elaboration of the characters. The story was well structured, it read itself. I recommend the volume for reading. There is much deeper to tell the story than a simple romantic tale. This is a story about forgiveness, acceptance and love. In addition to the big whole, he also brought a pinch of mystery from another short story of the writer, which very well complemented the main events. I liked that saving lives was also given a prominent role. In addition, the appearance of the concept of father was included in the story in many ways, emotionally rich, even this was one of my favorite points in I'm sure the second part will be a lot of fun to read.I heartily recommend it for reading to lovers of the genre. Thanks to NetGalley for the publication!

Kacey Fairing and Ben King were once teenage lovers. But their story had crushed based on a sad mix of immaturity, age, some miscommunication and some good and/or "good" thoughts of others.
But now they are back in Mercy Falls - Kacey for her new job as a pilot of Peak Rescue in Glacier National Park and for her daughter and Ben for his injured father. Their start is hard, as the pain is still unsorted and unforgiven, but the sparks are very much alive. But can they get over the fact that Audrey is not only Kacey´s daughter, but Ben´s too - unknown to him till this very moment? And that he is a hot country music singer?

There is also a subplot of Ian and Sierra and the unsolved mystery of two missing teenagers.

While I like the story of two people with baggage who need to find enough love and maturity to cooperate, trust and love, I think that their way to love was prolonged. I would like to have some harder/realistic stones in their way (after all, Ben is a big music star), coped with in the shorter time (I know!). Or - do we even really need one hero being a music star, one a heroic female soldier? It adds to the glitter factor, but less to the authentic feel of the novel.
But having said that - I like that the adult, independent heroes still need to face their hidden, inner troubles.
And I very much like the substory of Ian and Sierra! To me, they are even more interesting couple than the main characters.
And the warmness of Ms Warren stays! She can always add this loving, romantic feeling of the small city full of big human feelings and hearts shattered and healed.

Search and rescue pilot Kasey Fairing is home on leave in Mercy Falls, Montana after joining the military twelve years before when she’ ran and joined to run away from mistakes. She plans on taking a job at Glacier National Park and try to reconnect with her now teenage daughter. Ben King is also on his way back home after building a successful country music career ever since Kasey shut him out. He’s headed back home to help his injured father, which leads to a setup to get him to run into Kasey again.
This was a pretty decent story. I’m not crazy about the secret baby story, especially for a child so much older than a baby (if I had realized this from the description I wouldn’t have read it). Than add that Kasey didn’t really raise the child much herself and it’s also Christian-based where these actions wouldn’t be welcomed, I’m not sure why I decided to read it. Beyond that, it was well-written and the characters were multidimensional. There were a lot of feelings put into the book that kept me at it until I finished.

Susan May Warren is a favored author of mine. Her romance and suspense in her books are unlike any other. In book one of Wild Montana Skies, she has outdone herself. This book has romantic tension like no other, and the action, is so real you feel like you are right in the midst of it with the characters.
This is a fabulous start to a new series and I will be reading every one!

This is the first book I've read by Susan May Warren, and I enjoyed it. It was a fast paced contemporary romance, a second chance at love story between Ben and Kacey, who were former high school sweethearts. Fast forward and Kacey is home on leave from the military and her SAR Team. She is going to work for a local SAR while home. Ben is a popular country music singer who is back home after his father is injured. His father has talked him into running the SAR in his absence. Ben soon receives a big shock while in Montana, and it changes everything for him. As Ben and Kacey get to know one another again and realize they still have feelings for one another, they must figure out what really happened to break them apart years ago and decide what they want for the future.

Interesting storyline, good characters, and a sweet romance made this one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Oh.My.Goodness. Wild Montana Skies was SO good!! I don't know why I'm so surprised, because, come on, Susan May Warren wrote the book. But I guess the cover made me think it would be western/cowboy-ish. LOL! It definitely wasn't that type of story and unbelievably good. I actually read it in one day -- I just didn't want to stop reading it!

I loved the second chance romance. I felt so bad for Ben at times, but then at other times I felt sad for Kacey, or even Audrey -- who was really the one who had no control over anything.

The story also had some really intense and scary situations (especially one near the end). It had my heart in my throat waiting to see what would happen next.

All in all, I highly recommend Wild Montana Skies. It has great characters, storyline, and writing. I cannot wait to read the next one, Rescue Me.

I started this series by Susan May Warren because of my love of Montana, especially the Glacier National Park area. Her heroes show bravery, excellent rescue skills, and risky living. With that said, they lack finesse in their relationships and fumble their love lives. Add in the adventure and you’ll keep moving through to the ending. I enjoyed this novel and liked the strong character development. A good recipe for a relaxing evening read.

I received a copy of Wild Montana Skies from NetGalley for my honest review which I have given.

I was so excited to start a new series from Susan May Warren! It has all the elements I've come to expect from her writing- dynamic characters, a sense of family and community, drama and angst, and curl-your-toes romance! Even though I'm not normally a fan of the surprise baby/child trope, I was completely immersed in the relationship between Kacey and Ben since it takes such a unique twist... more than once! I loved that the author revealed bits and pieces of their past throughout the story so we could see how the two fell in love and it allowed me to hope that they would reconcile. Intertwined in their story is the continuation of Sierra and Ian's ill-fated romance from the prequel novella (which I highly recommend reading first!). Add to that the action and suspense from the rescues of the team, and this is a book that's impossible to put down!

Wild Montana Skies by Susan May Warren is a contemporary Christian romance. It is the first book in the Montana Rescue series and what a cracking series it promises to be.
I had heard a lot of good things about Susan May Warren and she certainly did not disappoint. I cannot wait to read more by her.
The main theme is that of fathers. There are all sorts of different types of fathers. A father's love is a precious thing. It is a gift from God. The bond that the reader witnesses unfolding in the novel is truly beautiful. It encompasses caring, sacrifice and overwhelming love. The novel also shows we are never too old to not need our father's love.
God the Father loves us with an everlasting love. We see this love at work in the novel. Sometimes we disqualify ourselves from God's love. "Let's not let our past determine whether God loves us or not." God loves each and every one of us because He wants to not because of anything we did or didn't do.
There is the theme of faith and trust in God. Faith to trust God is a decision we make. Trusting Him and letting Him have control of our lives may seem scary but it is the best decision we will ever make. "Don't be afraid of letting go and walking into all God has for you." Life can be hard at times, all we can do is pray and trust God. "Although we can't see the road ahead, we can see God."
Being lost and found permeates the novel. We may be spiritually lost of actually lost. The novel focuses on both. "We're not lost - we just can't see the path. But God can."
Sometimes we feel abandoned by God. "It would be a lot easier if God was actually on my side." God is always on our side, even if we cannot feel Him.
There is the theme of dreams. Dreams may change over the years. It is always good to have a dream to follow. Dreams can easily become nightmares. War veteran Kacey suffers from PTSD which disturbs her sleep. "She couldn't let the war follow her home." She needs help and love to recover.
The themes of forgiveness, guilt and hope are all present in the novel. Guilt may separate us from God but it is a wall that we build ourselves. God wants us to bring our guilt to Him and He will forgive and give us a hope for the future. Likewise we need to forgive ourselves and others and not live life with one foot in the past.
The characters in the novel were all realistically and sensitively drawn. They faced problems that were easy to empathise with. They were neither distant nor remote and took up residence in my heart. I am really looking forward to book two Rescue Me that is released in spring 2017.
A fabulous story with God at the centre.

Susan May Warren always delivers a fantastic book. Wild Montana Skies is fabulous. Her writing is uncomplicated, full of raw emotion, thought-provoking and so heartfelt.
The theme of redemption in this book is quite powerful. The forgiveness that needs to occur amongst multiple characters in the book is eye-opening and makes me think about the hidden pain/hurt that all of us carry that only God can heal as long as we're willing vessels of and for forgiveness.

Kacey and Ben are such amazing, broken people needing love, grace, and forgiveness. On the outside, they're two wildly successful people - Kacey a bronze star Blackhawk pilot and Ben a country music heartthrob. But deep inside, they both carry hurts from their past mistakes and need to find the faith and courage to overcome them. The love they share is incredibly deep and intense and I found my heart breaking a little every time something went wrong in their attempt at a second relationship (and believe me, Kacey and Ben go through A LOT in this book).

As for Ian and Sierra, the author does a fantastic job dangling that proverbial carrot in front of the readers. If you read "If Ever I Would Leave You", the prequel novella to the Montana Rescue series, you're probably holding your breath to see what happens to these two, as I am. Well, we will need to hold our breaths a little longer. Though Ian and Sierra (especially since Sierra is Kacey's best friend) have supporting roles in this story, their story is far from over.....I'm on to Rescue Me, book 2 in this series, hoping that I can release my breath!!

I received a digital advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. I was not required to give a favorable review. All opinions and comments are solely my own.

Storyline
After fighting in Afghanistan as a search and rescue pilot, Kacey Fairing has come home to Mercy Falls. She has been invited to join the PEAK Rescue Team, and arrives just as the town is flooding and in need of her help. Eager to reconnect with her 13 year old daughter, Audrey, Kacey doesn't anticipate that Audrey's father - and her first love who walked out on her of her birth - is also back in town.

Country Superstar Ben King, also back in town for awhile, has a thriving career in Nashville. But he is shocked when his first and only true love, Kacey, shows up and tells him they have a daughter he never knew about. As he settles back into Mercy Falls, he starts to wonder if maybe his earlier dreams of fame don't hold a candle to the possibility of being a family with Kacey and Audrey. But can he really leave Nashville behind to pursue them?

Also in this story, continuing from the prequel, is Mercy Falls resident Ian Shaw and his continued desperate quest to find his missing niece. As a major clue turns up about Esme's disappearance from three years ago, the cold case is reopened and Ian's faithful assistant Sierra helps him dig deeper into the mystery - all the while battling the feelings each has for the other and toeing the line between a personal and professional relationship.

Depth
As Ben and Kacey struggle to resolve what happened between them 13 years ago, and the consequences facing them now, issues of trust, abandonment, parenting and sacrifice surface. But the places this story digs the deepest regard Ian Shaw's depserate search for his niece, and the inner drive that keeps him going. The question of why Esme left him, his need to be in control and save the world haunt him. Author Susan does not give easy answers to any of these things, and leaves us hanging with a few things to be resolved in later books. (Which she is so maddeningly good at!)

Additionally, some of the main characters either have a broken past to deal with or currently have great pain to contend with. Broken families, past mistakes, and unfulfilled dreams are addressed.

Faith
Every main character in this book has to reconcile themselves with God and their choices. Some of them feel God isn't on their side but come to realize He has been there all along. Psalm 23 is a comfort and a guide throughout the book and is used, quoted and applied often.

Love Story
Love is complicated, messy and difficult at times but it can overcome a lot of mistakes and difficult circumstances when strong enough. Additionally, it's demonstrated that love isn't always pleasant and happy, but sometimes it's honest and telling the truth - even when it hurts. In this book, the chemistry between some of our main characters was electrifying! The wide range of emotions are easily felt by the reader too.

Overall

Susan May Warren has given us a lot to look forward to in this new series! In her typical fashion, she weaves a lot of different storylines together, while resolving some in this book and leaving others to be resolved in later reads. Her characters are well developed as usual, and both lovable and realistic at the same time.
