This book felt very timely. This is a look into how social media can be used to destroy the lives of others. It shows a true picture of how difficult the teenage years are and how social media makes it so kids can never accept the negativity of others.

As a Mom to a preteen, I devoured the book. It also helped prove to me that I am correct in feeling that social media is a first no in our house until our kids are much older.

My favorite part of this book was the character development. Not all of the characters are likable, but they are well-developed and intriguing.

I would definitely recommend this book to others.

Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to read an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

I was really excited about reading this book. I have enjoyed every page so much that I am certainly going to read Herta Feely's next book. <3

Did not finish. It was too slow for me. I took a break from reading so I can't remember the details of this book for a more thorough review

This is definitely one of those timely books, with cyberbullying being such a problem in schools. So why only three stars? Because there was no nuance. It read like an issue book, rather than a book with interesting people and characters that happened to deal with a sensitive issue. Which is, of course, too bad. The biggest problem is with the mother, who is perhaps a little idealized here (is this what we expect of mothers?) rather than Phoebe. Perhaps a less well-intentioned book would have been better.

As the mother of a high school daughter, who worries constantly about the pressure our kids feel to fit in, to be themselves, to do well, this book piled onto the negatives thoughts I already have floating around in my head about what is going on in our children's lives.
"Saving Phoebe Murrow" takes your worst fears about what is happening in your teenager's life - those things that they won't talk to you about - and puts it under a microscope. Herta Feely tells a story you wish could never be true, but due to the news and social media prevalence, you know that all parts of it are possible.
"Saving Phoebe Morrow" shows you multiple sides to the story of Phoebe, her former best friend and their mothers.. Those mothers, who want to do the right thing and protect their daughters from the slights they perceive as damaging to an adolescent psyche.
Every mother will see parts of herself in these mothers - becoming the lioness to protect her young, probing for answers from a sullen, withdrawn child.. While most parents would not act out in a way that would hurt another child, one mother in this story will take her reaction to a situtation to the extreme - placing all of them on a path they can never come back from.
