This is an interesting and intriguing Christian romantic suspense novel. It's filled with characters for the reader to care about and a fascinating storyline. Some parts are a bit implausible, but overall it's worth reading.

Terrorists and broken trusts are just some of the factors playing at the game planned to destroy many.
Nikki Wright was betrayed more than once and God to whom she had been serving has stayed silent during these times. Now the only loyalty she has in life is towards her brother - a SEAL just returned from being captive in Columbia. Bobby is just a shadow of the man he used to be and Nikki is fiercely trying to protect him and even more fiercely believing in his innocence when the voice rises that he was actually a terrorists' ally. When leaving the hospital, some men tries to kidnap them. Being on the run, Bobby contacts the only person he is trusting - Kade Wheaton, also a former SEAL and - Nikki's ex-boyfriend. Not sure to handle her still broken heart, Nikki is not so trusting - but Kade proves being nothing just a very good friend, and very capable at that. Actually, the one unstable here is Bobby - behaving strangely, having hallucinations and even attacking people. Might be something about the suspicions that he is playing a dangerous game against his own country?
This is a standalone novel, but the readers can meet with some characters from the Ms Barrit's previous novel "Dubiosity".
As for the human factor - this is good, interesting food for thought. The topic of trust and betrayal was played well and even hits close to home for several times. I understand Nikki, being broken cruelly for several times, that she is not exactly keen on trusting God again. I am glad she was able to realize that everything what happened was a part of a greater plan.
Kade is a very manly hero, as usual |(Ms Barritt can write them well!). And there are more of them - I am hoping for a novel of Ten Man, such an intriguing side character!
As for the mystery - be prepared to read this as a cozy suspense, not as a thriller. Well, it is about international terrorism, so it is not so cozy - but for me the cozies are more about the human factor than the intellectual believability of the mystery. There is just too much motives for the story to be coherent, I believe. More simple story from the more known territory (as international terrorism and espionage are quite unknown waters for the general public) might bring more realness and mystery into the novel.
But I feel that I have connected with Nikki, Bobby and Kade, so I leave the novel quite satisfied. All in all, we read for this connection with the story and its heroes, right?

Imagine needing help and having no one to trust and no one who trusts you. That's the story for Nikki and her POW brother, Bobby. Join them on an intense, high risk quest to find answers and avoid capture. Nikki has no choice but to turn to the man who she believes she can no longer trust. How do you do that after a major heartbreak and while running for your life? Here's another suspenseful tale from fan favorite, Christy Barritt. Warning: clear your schedule as you cannot resist reading this in one sitting.
