I was hoping for a deep spiritual guide here. I have to say that this is not the case. And while I acknowledge to find a few enriching thoughts here, I also find this collection of short essays being a quite shallow works. Very much of the texts go under the surface of things, offering a little wisdom for Catholics (of people of good will) who takes their spiritual life seriously.
Also, the overabundance of the word "inclusive" and so made me scared, and rightly so - as the the chapter called "Communities of Inclusivity" notes (about the otherwise much needed spirit of welcoming everyone in our communities): "What about those whose sexual orientation does not align well with a moral theology grounded in thirteenth-century natural-law theory?"?
While I certainly do not champion the hate towards LGBTI+ communities (so yes, we should welcome them as the God´s beloved children and fellow sinners), I also very much miss the other hand here - the truth about the sin. Is the 6th commandment forgotten and/or abandoned? I do not think so. It certainly precedes "the moral theology grounded in thirteenth-century natural-law theory" (which is a pretty flippant remark from a monk). The shepherds of the believers should be merciful, yet also truthful, as they have the souls in their care.
So, given what I said above, I can not in good conscience recommend this book.
