I don't know what I expected going into the book, but it ended up not being for me. I just didn't like the relationship between the sisters...I didn't like the sisters.

In this gripping and haunting tale of sisterhood, The Other Sister delves into the complexities of love, guilt, and the intricacies of human connection as a terrifying crime and a mysterious discovery send Ali and Morgan's lives spiraling into chaos, forcing them to confront their darkest secrets and search for redemption.

Morgan spent her whole life in the shadow of her twin sister, Alli and resented her for it. When something terrible happens to Alli, their lives begin to turn, and eventually they find themselves in a while different relationship than how they grew up. Meanwhile, Alli is struggling with her husband, Matt. Can they ever find their ways back to how it was before?

Proof that not all sisters- even twins- like each other. This family drama is the story of Ali and Morgan. Morgan has been jealous of Ali forever (blame their parents for some of this but then...). Now, Ali's getting married and moving across the country and Morgan decides its time to take her down. How she does it is really rotten. This has murder, rape, and hateful behavior in spades, I'd say Morgan is loathsome except that in some small way (very small) I felt for her. No spoilers from me on how this works out but know that there are twists, Thanks to Netgalley for the arc.

This was a well written family drama that I really enjoyed reading, I found it a bit slow to start but after a few chapters it really improved.

Twin sisters, one beautiful, happy and and accomplished, the other plain, sad and lost. Or are they? Who are we, outside of our family? And how much do they dictate who we become? These are some of the questions Dianne Dixon attempts to address in The Other Sister. Part of me would warn against reading the blurb below because it will give away much of the plot twists that kept me hooked to this novel despite its flaws. Thanks to Sourcebooks Landmark and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book.

The Other Sister tries to be a lot of things. On the one hand it is a family drama, on the other hand it is a suspense novel, and on an unexpected third hand it is a bit of a coming-of-age story. The story twists it way through the different genres, never quite settling and therefore never quite achieving a solid status. Dixon has too many ambitions for what is a relatively large book at almost 400 pages. This book is very dramatic. Now, I love drama, it drives a plot forward, it brings out all the emotions, and it usually leads to scenes that stay with you for a long time. The Other Sister has drama aplenty but unfortunately it backfires. There are so many twists and turns throughout, subplots that don't seem at all relevant and then also fail to become more relevant later on, that you'll get lost. The biggest reason I kept reading was the sheer fun of it. The Other Sister felt like a soap opera, where something as tragic and horrifying as a rape happened one evening, to be followed the next by a suggested girls' ski trip.

My biggest issue with The Other Sister is the characterization. Now, one of my favourite novels is Wuthering Heights, so I have no issue with unlikeable characters. But I need them to be realistic, I need to be able to at least partially understand their motivations, the reasons behind their cruel behavior. The tension between Ali and Morgan is incredibly toxic and I could never imagine treating my sister that way. Dixon hops from one dramatic moment to the other, with characters seemingly going through enormous emotional upheaval without it ever truly coming alive. What also irked me was the treatment of the rape plotline. It is presented as something of a punishment for Ali, as if truly her life was perfect and she needed something bad to be able to appreciate how everyone suffers in their own way, or something like that. You can imagine why I wasn't a fan. I was expecting more, but in the end I only finished The Other Sister out of sheer stubbornness.

The Other Sister centers around the love/hate relationship between two adult twin sisters. Much of the conflict comes from their resentment of each other, but also their inability to live without the other

I'm sorry to say I won't be reviewing this book after all. I've lost interest in reading it. Thank you for the opportunity.

There was lots of sibling rivalry in this story, something one might not believe of twins, but clearly does. The twists and turns throughout the book keeps you flipping pages to find out what is next. A great read!

Although I knew there would be a rape (from reading the summary) I thought I could handle reading about it and the dark side of humanity. I was wrong.

I loved this book! It is the story of twins, Ali and Morgan, and the closeness they share through good and bad times.
The characters were unforgettable and engaging. This book kept me turning pages as I was thoroughly invested in the story. I highly recommend this book.

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

This book was predictable and annoyed me a little bit. It was a page turner and some of it just got stupid.

Thank you netgalley and the publishers for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

The story is about Ali and Morgan, fraternal twins, one has everything and the other has nothing. This was as far as I got! Unfortunately I couldn't finish it as it just didn't work for me. The story didn't flow at all and I was quite disappointed after reading the description.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Very different twins and some serious resentment on both sides. At first I was not so sure about this. It was dragging a little for me. I'm glad I stuck with it. It gets better and more compelling as you read. Ali and Morgan learn to become their own after Ali gets married and moved away. However, they are always connected and initially Morgan seems like she could be a danger to Ali. For me personally, Morgan became the character I was intrigued by the most. Very interesting story with some wonderful twists.

This was one of the best suspense book I read in the past year. Ali and Morgan are twins and they share the bond that only twins can truely understand, but what happens when jelousy enters the equation. This was a fast moving book and I wanted to close off the rest of the world to read it in one read. There were pleanty of twists and turns to keep the reader captive and the ending was satisfying.

Morgan had never been the Pretty One, the Invited One, the One who was desired...she has always felt a loss-not knowing how to be without her sister.

Sister love or sister hate. This was a manic depressive book in that I love her - I hate her. I want her in my life- I want her to leave and never come back. I want good things for her/I hope she rots in hell. It was definitely making my head spin. Twin sisters- Morgan always in the shadow of her sister Ali. Ali has the guy, the adoration of others and Morgan her own heart is twisting. It comes to a change when Ali marries and moves to California and the sisters become estranged. When tragedy strikes Ali, Morgan knows and feels that something is off. She then follows Ali to California to start her life on her own with her phone pal Sam. (all very strange)

It is narration of secrets. Secrets that Ali's husband is keeping. Secrets that Morgan is keeping. And the secret of Ali's tragedy. Out of many tragedies, Ali and her husband Matt become instant parents when a good friend is suddenly killed. It is there that Ali and Matt must come out there depression and guilt and become a family. With the changes in Morgan's life, will she get passed her obsession with her sister and learn to love.

Many relationship dynamics that literally make your head spin.

This book took me a little bit to get into but once I did, I could not put it down. The twists and turns made it hard to put down.

Ali and Morgan are twins, but couldn't be more different. Ali has lived a fairly charmed life, complete with friends, men, talent and beauty. Morgan has struggled a bit more, and while I found her super annoying and clingy, I also found Ali to be not as perfect as she seemed. In fact, all of the characters in this book were flawed in some way, which kept you on an emotional roller coaster of who you were rooting for, as they all seemed to take turns in being the villain and the victim.

Based on the book's description, I expected a much different story. This book was much more complicated, focused on multiple characters, and Ali's rape wasn't the focal point of the story, but more like a plot twist.

The greatest change was Morgan's development from a weird, self-loathing, bitter person into one who not only accepted herself, but began letting others into her life in a positive way, including her sister.

Honestly, it seemed like this book couldn't decide whether it was a sister book, a thriller or a dysfunctional family book - and some of that choppiness made it difficult to know how to feel when the book ended.

I enjoyed it and would read this author again. Thank you, NetGalley for the ARC!
