If you’re looking for sexy erotica, this is the book for you. You meet a few different characters thoughout that surprised me with how much depth they had.

I have mixed emotions over Serena’s Plight. While I liked the premise of the story, that her ex-boyfriend pimps her out to his wealthy college school mates so he may supplement his college scholarship and help her save money, it’s a poorly executed book. The dialogue is so contrived and painful not even the sex scenes could save it because they were just as boring and even more painful to read.

I really enjoyed this book. It was very steamy and intriguing. The writing technique needs some fine tuning, but it didn’t deter me. I would recommend some more in depth verbiage for Sam, just so I can feel a better connection to his character. That being said, I do recommend this book and look forward to reading the next installment. Book provided by NetGalley.

I don’t even know what I just read. Is this heroine for real? How in the hell did she just agree to this asinine plan her ex boyfriend hatched? She blamed herself and just came off super unlikable and weak. I hated that it ended on a cliffhanger because as much as I hate them I also just don’t care what happens after this.

I didn’t love this book. It was very repetitive and became rather boring at some point. I mean how much sex is there! Doing it, teaching it, how many different ways are there to describe sex? Not enough apparently because redundancy was abundant.

Enjoyable story line. Kept my interest and I liked the characters. Would recommend to a friend if they like this genre.

I did not finish this book. While I appreciate the offer to have the novel., I have stopped reading any romance novels that stray more into erotica.

Serena's Plight by Carol Madison is erotic but based on the notion of selling a close friend's "favors." So, a bit despicable. If you can get past that...a decent read.

SERENA'S PLIGHT - Carol Madison

COLLEGE EROTICA - 3 stars

Plot - 3 stars - Kind of a contrived and somewhat odd plot. Sam and Serena were friends as children, then lovers in high school. When Sam is accepted to Cornell, he worries about paying tuition. So he comes up with a plan for him to pimp out Serena to his rich fellow students. And since she knows her life will be nothing more than low-paying dead-end jobs, she's accepts.

Writing - 3 stars - The whole thing seemed a little stilted. But perhaps it was just that the concept was convoluted, which means the writing had to be bent a little to make it fit. It definitely took a while to get into it. What I liked, however, was the fact that each of the "boyfriends" was so very different and distinguishable from each other. I had no trouble keeping them straight, and each brought a little variety to the "relationship," adding a bit of interest. But there was way too much detail. I mean, we had to hear about her bathroom breaks and everything little thing about her personal hygiene. The writing seemed somewhat juvenile, not professionally smooth.

Characters - 3 stars - Serena is an OK main character. She's not annoying or frustrating in any way, but she's kind of sadly pathetic. Of course her life has been overly bad--never received a gift, never worn new clothes, never had anyone who loved her, blah blah. And the rich guys were crazy super rich. I'm sure there are those guys around, but all of them threw around thousands of dollars at a whim. A little too unbelievable. Unfortunately some authors overdo it when trying to establish a wide contrast between upper and lower classes (or happy/sad, or safe/unsafe), and that's what this felt like. I also felt her "he said he loved me but then he dumped me" line was overdone. She and Sam weren't even in high school, so her expectations of him offering her a happily-ever-after seemed way out of line. So they broke up--big deal. Expecting each of the boys she "loved" to take her away from her sad little life was unrealistic. Even in this situation, Sam is the one who offers her this plan; she didn't do anything to move forward in her life. It didn't seem like she had a lot to offer Sam (or anyone). She didn't value herself enough to be able to really love anyone. All that being said, Serena is likable, and we get to know her very well. On the plus side, I liked that she really took her "job" seriously. She went out of her way to think about her guys and tried to find things that would help them and work for them.

Title - 3 stars - Not a common word--"plight." So even that seemed a little overly dramatic. And the story wasn't really about her plight, but about her solution, the job she took to get ahead financially.

Cover - 3 stars - Nothing wrong with attractive male abs, but it didn't seem to fit the story. The main subject is a female. Seeing a woman in a dark pose would have fit much better.

Overview - 3 stars - I didn't love it, but I also didn't hate it. The original premise seemed a little off, but once I accepted it, the story moved along quickly. Having 6 guys in her "harem" was too much, I thought. It would have been just as interesting with fewer, although each was easily distinguishable from the others, and it did provide enough variety to keep things interesting. The sex scenes were fine, although they did become tedious after a while. It was practically a how-to guide on being a call girl. And Serena spent a lot of time trying to justify her actions to herself, but I liked her in spite of myself. All in all, this book was OK and was a quick and pleasant read.

I wasn't able to finish this book as I was not able to get into the story, I tried multiple times to go back and it just wasn't for me.

This read was exactly what the preview had stated. It just that I was hoping for more than that for the main character.

Well written with interesting characters and a great storyline. Really like this book.

More erotica than romance. Kind of hollow character development, and the plot is kind of nonexistent. OK if all you are looking for is lots of sex.

Seriously not a fan of the writing style at all. In my opinion rather immature and not well rounded. I'm all for a good sexual story but this was like reading the lamer stories in an old magazine, sorry!

Serena’s Plight is a very explicit look into a woman with low self-esteem and her attempt to provide for herself. Serena finds her options for a future to be very limited, until her friend Sam proposes a business partnership. I appreciated the thought she put into it before making the decision that would change her life, because it did just that. All of a sudden she was financially sound, living in a wonderful place, even starting a friendship with an interesting neighbor. But it isn’t all rosy. Even though she is enjoying the sexual encounters she experiences with all of her clients, she finds it a fairly empty existence. I thought the struggle she endured during Serena’s Plight was believable. I found her clients to be interesting and unique. These were good qualities to have in the story. However, I found the friendship between her and Sam to be frustrating. That took some enjoyment out of the story. I also found some of the detail to be a bit much at times, which is surprising as that typically doesn’t turn me away. That being said, I am intrigued by where Serena’s story is going and am interested in reading the remainder of the trilogy. The problem is, I can’t find them available anywhere, or even a word about when they will be released. I am one to like resolution for the characters I read about, and I definitely don’t have that.

Holy Cow this was a good book. Tons of sex with willing and paying college guys! Can't wait to read the next book in this trilogy.

I received this book from Netgally for free. This was my honest review.

Sorry I did not quite like this book at all. I read it to fulfill an obligation to NetGalley but did not find anything or anyone that I liked, identified with or rooted for. While I am glad for the free copy would not be reading anymore of this series.

This was a good read. I was unhappy with some of the choices the characters made, however, the ends justified the means- thankfully!
