The Diary of a 100 Year Old Amused Senior is a charming and uplifting read that offers both humor and heart. Estelle Craig’s voice is full of clarity, perspective, and lightness, proving that age is no barrier to joy, curiosity, or a sharp sense of humor.

What makes this book so engaging is the author's ability to find amusement in the everyday. Her reflections are simple yet meaningful, often sprinkled with a wry wit that makes you smile while also making you think. There’s a refreshing honesty in her words, along with a deep appreciation for life’s small moments.

While the format is more a series of vignettes than a continuous narrative, that’s part of its charm. It feels like sitting down with a wise friend who has lived a full life and is still finding reasons to laugh.

This is a lovely book to read in short bursts or to gift to someone who could use a gentle reminder that growing older can be filled with humor, grace, and perspective.

The Diary of a 100 Year Old Amused Senior was published back in 2015 and Estelle Craig passed at 103 years of age in 2019. This book interested me for a couple of reasons. She lived and worked in Toronto, and I wanted to hear what she loved about her life and what she was still looking forward to. Being a senior myself, I am still going strong and want to be able to do things until my last days. This was an interesting book. It is a short one, but packed full of tidbits of her life. It felt like sitting down and talking to her about her past and what she remembered, and she remembered a lot. I had never heard of her before reading this one and realized that she was a smart, independent woman who did a lot of things dealing with travel, speakers to Toronto, she wrote radio programs and plays. Some of her anecdotes were humorous and others were okay. One thing I didn't like was that this was not a linear book at all. It jumped all over which at times frustrated me. Some of her stories were very short and I wanted more. It was an interesting glimpse into a life well lived.

A brilliant book! Mrs. Craig recounts beauitfully her extraordinary life from childhood to present day. She is articulated so well each decade and time of her life. I was enthralled and read it in one sitting. What a thrill to read about her struggle and success. She has lived a life well lived indeed. Well done
